The La's and Late '80s/Early '90s Britpop ***Official Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Pulp - Pencil Skirt

If you look under the bed,
Then I can see my house from here
So just lie against the wall
And watch my conscience disappear now baby

Yeah, I'll be around when he's not in town
Oh, yeah, I'll show you how you're doing it wrong
Oh, I really love it when you tell me to stop, oh-oh
Oh, it's turning me on

their early stuff was perfectly delightful knock off of Cocteau Twins - another grossly overlooked band in retrospect, btw - but that second line up put out good stuff like this. they did a tour not long ago, i think.

ETA - I saw them with Ride and Pale Saints together on a show in Chapel Hill back in the day. One of those perfect shows.

Supergrass is, for me, every bit as the epitome of Britpop as Pulp and Oasis. Their dna is chock full of XTC, which is are among the granddaddies of the genre.

honorable mentions go to Cornershop for a couple of gems (exhibit A);

kula shaker cover of "hush"
