The latest on Beanie? (1 Viewer)

I am considering making a trade to get Beanie. Obviously I am trying to do my due diligence to find out if it is worth the risk with his current hamstring issues. However, I can't find much recent news on his health. Please don't redirect me to an old post. I am trying to get the most recent news possibly from a homer.

Thanks

I'll get the link later.Thanks

rotoworld:

Beanie Wells (hamstring) told reporters Monday that he "definitely" will play in Week 4 against the Giants.Keep in mind that Wells said the same thing last Friday, then didn't play against the Seahawks. Coach Ken Whisehunt acknowledged Monday that Wells was "close" to facing Seattle, and that he "should" be back against the Giants. Ultimately, Wells' availability will depend on his body's reaction to practicing. Sep 26 - 3:59 PM

Do yourself a favor and find a better RB to trade for (okay at least one who plays every week)Latest from Whiz...."he has a chance to play this week"This guy is a creampuff - lots of players have played with more pain and injury than "Beanie" (the nickname itself should have warned us off him)

Beanie has missed 4 of 35 games as a pro. It's not like he can't go half the time. It's fun to say it though, I'm sure and talk about how much of a "creampuff" he is...as I'm sure it's also fun to assume to know how much pain and injury he has and how lots of players have played with more pain.

I'd love to see some of these fantasy nerds "put a jersey on" and step in front of an NFL running back they've called an injury prone wimp.Seriously, you can count the number of NFL RBs that don't miss games on one hand. These guys get hurt. It happens. Get over it.

News: Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday that he thinks RB Beanie Wells (hamstring) should return Week 4 against the Giants, but his status will depend on how the practice week goes. The coach said the same about backup RB LaRod Stephens-Howling, who sat out Sunday against the Seahawks with a hand injury. Alfonso Smith and Chester Taylor paced the rushing attack in Week 3 as both RBs were sidelined.

Thanks Whisenhunt, thats a ton of useful information :) .. Did he study under BB? hehe

I wouldn't trust his word on it...he said all week last week he was a go. But overall, he is like anyone else: just have to watch the practice through the week and plan accordingly.

Beanie got the "soft" tag but he has gutted it out injured last year, had a promising rookie season. And like someone above said; stop and name the RBs you know that DON'T miss time. Its a brutal position in a brutal game. It is going to happen.

So I don't pay much attention to the label. Actually, I kind of chuckle how people see it in print and become mocking birds without ever lookng to see (or remembering) just how much time certain players Do NOT miss. Its kind of like Rotoworld. They have gotten into a habit of calling Felix Jones "fragile" in every update they give of him and they basically dismissed him completely going into week 3. their assumption was dead wrong and Felix played a heck of a game.

Overall, I like beanie as a buy because he knows this is his time to prove something and when you look around the league, its a great situation because the coach WILL run him and he has almost no one behind him.

soft and injury prone are used interchangeably around here when they are unrelated and possibly even negatively correlated. beanie played through a lot of pain in college with the foot thing, and last yr with the torn meniscus that they rushed him back from way too soon thereby destroying his effectiveness for the season.

Good points all. I actually would prefer if the Cards would do what they did with him last week - that is, if he isn't going to be effective, shut him down for the week and let him heal correctly (although earlier notice would be nice). IMHO, Wiz is trying to make sure Wells holds up through most of the season, as he realizes that if it aint Wells, they aint running much. I also think it's possible he thought he could sneak out a win vs. Buffalo without Wells (oops). There were times when Beanie has played through injury - and he is not effective doing it most times. As such, I'd rather he either be 95-100% or resting. 75%-80% Beanie = 90% chance you have better options than the 46 yards he'll get you dinged.

The latest from Rotoworld:

Coach Ken Whisenhunt finally admitted to optimism over Beanie Wells' (hamstring) chances of playing this week.

Wells sprinted Thursday, but didn't push too hard. "We didn't have any setbacks," said Whiz. "Hopefully, we'll get enough reps (Friday) that we're comfortable and we'll check it out before the game as well." LaRod Stephens-Howling (hand) graduated to a full practice Thursday and could take on a bigger role on passing downs if the Cardinals opt to ease Wells back in.

It's always something w/ him. I really bought into him being the man when Ryan Williams went down, & I think Beanie has talent, but he must've been born under an unlucky star....or something
