The leading receiver for the SD Chargers (1 Viewer)

If LT and Gates continue to experience toe pain throughout the season, could Vincent Jackson step up to become a strong WR3 or weak WR2? I was surprised to learn that Jackson, despite his relatively low number of targets, has the most receiving yards (194) and receptions (12). The downside is obviously Rivers' end zone chemistry with Chris Chambers and Antonio Gates. Chambers has a whopping six catches in three games, four of which went for touchdowns.

Last night Rivers threw deep to Jackson on three different occassions, twice early and once late. The 60-yd completion was very, very close to being a touchdown. Could Jackson turn out to be the Chargers WR to own, or should I look to deal him after his next good game?

Not sure.. I think Rivers is doing a great job of spreading the ball around & like you already stated he looks like the # 4 red zone option after LT,Gates & Chambers.. He wasn't doing anything last night until that last catch.. I think Rivers looks like he's ready to put up really good numbers this year so Jackson should be a startable # 3.. But not much more than that..

Chambers: 15 targets, 6 receptions

Jackson: 12 targets, 12 receptions

What this means: Jackson can't keep up this pace, so expect his receptions to decrease.

I don't know where you got those stats from, but they're not right. Jackson had at least two targets on the first series last night that went for incompletions.

Apparently Chambers doesn't realize that he has hands of stone. If you watch that touchdown from Monday night, he looked like he was thinking about the celebratory goalpost 'dunk' before actually catching the ball. If I had the drop percentage he has, I'd by looking the ball in and hugging it like a baby in a firefighter's arms.

I remembered Jackson dropping that long pass last night, so I double checked your numbers:Chambers: 17 targets, 6 receptionsJackson: 17 targets, 12 receptions

Actually, it's:Chambers: 17 targets, 6 receptions (35.3%)Jackson: 17 targets, 12 receptions (70.6%)I don't know that we can really draw anything meaningful from such a small sample, but Chambers has always had a poor catch % so it's not totally surprising to see how low he is this year. I've been happy starting VJax as a WR3 so far this year and don't see any reason to stop yet. Good offense, good hands, several deep opportunities each week.. works for me.

Or not. How realistic is it to think Chambers can score four out of every six times he catches the ball? I'm thinking some of those just might start to go to Jackson....

I was going by the stats at FFToday. Just goes to show ya.

Chambers and Vjax are 1a and 1b. Gates is slowly rounding into form as wellThis passing game is elite, start them all
:P I think this is the correct answer.. Seems like this team should be getting more love in the passing game. & if wasn't for Cutler & Marshall they probably would be..
