Turns out she was referring to the situation next door where the neighbor lady is watching her daughter's dog ..who is yapping outside the backdoor, waiting to go back in.

Yup, good memory! I dated the Swede, married the German.

The only thing worth adding is that when we first moved in many years ago, the neighbor's daughter was still living at home. The daughter would occasionally mow the lawn in an outfit not unlike this:
