The Name Trade (1 Viewer)

So now appears to be one of those times that trading the name of a player may get you more in return. . .Particuraly Steve Smith. With out Jake in the game, he has been a marginal #2 WR. And if he starts losing out on a TD during the game, then he's not even that.

Now don't freak out. . .this isnt a "Should I trade", or "should I start" thread.

But plain and simple, it doesnt look hopeful for SS owners. Jake is done for the year, Carr is beat up, the Carolina running game is weak, and all around it looks like a bad situation.

So I think this is one of those times where you can target 1 or 2 WR that are weak on popularity, but will out produce SS. Who might be on that list. Obviously Owens, Moss, CJ is out of the question, but you might be able to swing something.

Straight up trades or maybe a bit extra too?

Houshmandzadeh - currently performing well on a weak def team that will have to throw. . .CJ is causing grief. . . .only draw back here with be Henry coming back in a few weeks

Burress - despite injuries, keeps putting up the scores and yards. . . .now that the running game is back to strenght he might even get better? Add in no major #2 that has really show up, and you might be looking ok.

Wayne R - Harrison is hurt, and Waynes numbers havent been through the roof, but he has been fairly consistant. . . .

Holt T - I think will be a long term investment. . .I think his nubers will get you throgh the week, but come the end of the season, and IF they get healthy across the board, this could be a home run.

Williams R - I'll put him on the list, but I'm not sold. . .the lions looked bad this week, and I think they may start to fold. . .add in multi passing threats on that team, and I think this will be just about a wash with SS

Edwards B - Here is one that you might be able to get a combo deal out of. Name isnt all that big, but the number have been. Who knows if the browns can hang all season long, but you might be able to get Edwards and another player tossed in.

Fitzgerald L - This one could be tough. . .Larry has been putting up the numbers you would expect out of steve, but with the right owner, I thing you might end up with a steal here. . . .only draw back is that they are the cards, and although I think Kurt will be an early upgrade, I'm not sure what the end of the season will look like.

I had smith last year, and when delhomme hurt his finger at the end of the year it was brutal.

I think one game they had, like, 5 pass attempts and were direct snapping to the running back!

right in my superbowl, too --- thx a lot, delhomme.

As someone who doesn't own Steve Smith (and someone possibly looking into buy low in him in hopes that he clicks with Carr a couple games down the line) I'd be amazed if you could pull a trade for any of those players.

The only owner I could see biting is the Holt owner.

:hophead: You may get Braylon Edwards for him. Holt may have hope now that Gussy Frerotte is in

What about D.Bowe? People seem to be really high on him lately.
Bowe should be an easy trade for smith. . . I just dont see it as an upgrade. . .I could be wrong, but I just don't trust KC all that much., especially having to go through another QB change next week.

In a dynasty, maybe.

In a redraft, you'd better hope that your league's resident Steve Smith homer is loaded at WR.
