Colts got lots of national games. Only one at home (not claiming conspiracy - the road games had more possiblities than the home games). Colts vs. Pats not being a national TV game is a travishamockery (or CBS bribed the NFL a lot of dough).
It'll basically be a nationally televised game. The only other 4:00 games that day are Seattle at Cleveland and Houston at Oakland. Of course the NFL scheduled that game for the day after my wedding... I'm going to have to start thinking about how to do this one. Week 11 is terrible btw - the only 4:00 games are Giants@Lions and Rams@49ers. Why couldn't that be my wedding weekend?

Byes

Week 4 - Jax, NO, Ten, Wash

Week 5 - Cinci, Minny, Oak, Philly

Week 6 - Buff, Den, Det, Indy, Pitt, SF

Week 7 - Car, Cle, GB, SD

Week 8 - Ari, Atl, Bal, Dal, KC, Sea

Week 9 - Chi, Mia, NY Giants, St L

Week 10 - Hou, NE, NY Jets, TB

I'm going by memory here, but I saw the NFL Network state the hardest SOS based on last year's records are as follows:

Bills

Raiders

Patriots

Titans

I forget the win percentages they quoted.

1) I can't believe that the Bills actually have a home MNF game

2) Having a top 5 most difficult schedule every year sucks

3) The first 5 games are absolutely brutal, especially the first 3:

Denver

@ Pittsburgh

@ New England

NY Jets

Dallas

I'm just hoping that they can hold things together somewhat at the beginning of the season because their last 6 games are all very winnable. It just sucks because with so many new guys on the offensive line it would be nice if they had the easier games at the beginning of the season.
I think you mean 5 of the last 6 are winnable. A win @PHI =

If it makes you feel any better, Denver has come out of the gate slow on the road the last two years.

Houston gets 2 afternoon and 1 Thursday night game this year. I may have to fly out to San Diego for our game there, would love to see LT play again.

Also, a Houston home game against the Saints should be VERY interesting with the many transplants from Louisiana now living here.

...but FOUR of them on the road?

One other interesting note about the Bears schedule is that they have been a traditionally noontime game. This year, only SIX games will be played at noon. I think I will like that, but we'll see.

I think you mean 5 of the last 6 are winnable. A win @PHI =
 Don't even get me started. The last time these teams played it was in Philly too. The Eagles are absolutely babied by the NFL. And the Bills should have won that game and WOULD have won that game without the two complete BS penalties that the NFL had to apologize to the Bills for. Both just happened to sustain scoring drives for the Eagles. The Eagles were 0-3 at that point and absolutely needed a win, a win that the officials handed to them by calling two phantom calls.
3-4-BUF29 (5:16) D.McNabb pass to F.Mitchell to BUF 27 for 2 yards (A.Winfield). Caught over middle at BUF 27.

PENALTY on BUF-T.Spikes, Defensive Holding, 5 yards, enforced at BUF 29 - No Play.
2-22-PHI45 (5:42) B.Westbrook right end to 50 for 5 yards (P.Prioleau, J.Posey).

PENALTY on BUF-L.Milloy, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at 50.
Besides, at that point McNabb will have suffered his annual season ending injury and the Bills will be playing against AJ Feeley/Kelly Holcomb.(But I'm not bitter about that game or anything)

FWIW, I have done up this schedule grid for a few years in a row now (some of you will recognize it), and I plan on continuing this fun task.

SuperJohn96's 2006 NFL Schedule Grid

I already have the grid all setup, with all the home/away opponents...I just need the dates and the BYE weeks.

Also...(2nd edit) I will be making this available in four different versions.

It's hard enough for the Jags to try and catch the Colts, now they have to play them coming of a bye and again after the Colts have had 10 days off. :gang2:

That game was at Buffalo. I think that was the game where Westbrook iced it with a long run when the Eagles were running out the clock.

My thoughts on the Jags schedule-

I'm a bit surprised at two 1:00 starts at home to start the season. Over/under for number of rushing attempts vs the Falcons is 38.5 (dome team in the heat).

Jags have two different stretches of 3 consecutive Sundays with no home games. (One stretch is 2 away games and the bye).

This is the crucial part of the Jags schedule-

Oct. 22 vs. Indianapolis Colts Jacksonville Municipal Stadium 8:30 ESPN

Oct. 28 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Raymond James Stadium 4:05 CBS

Nov. 4 at New Orleans Saints Louisiana Superdome 1:00 CBS

I thought it was odd that the Jags host the two West Coast teams (Chargers/Raiders) at 1:00.

The game in Pittsburgh should be tough but that's their only cold-weather game. They are in Denver and KC early.

 You're right, I don't know why I remembered it being in Philly. And yeah, Westbrook did ice it on a long run. That was when I first really took note of how dangerous Westbrook is. But if the Bills were up 3 there instead of down 3, who knows what the playcalling would have looked like on both sides of the ball. But then again, refs just suck in general :goodposting:

Here in Detroit, not a fan, but I see the Lions going...0 and 16....best case scenario, 3-13...maybe a win @Oakland, and home vs. TBay and GBay...that's it.

Three straight away games is the norm due to UF/UGA. I've come to expect this.I am surprised by the lack of cold weather games.Playing the Colts after they have had 2 weeks off and then 10 days off bothers me.

Can't wait to see it!

I was just wondering what the big deal was for waiting for the schedules to come out? The way the schedule works now, you already know 14 of your team's 16 games from now until infinity (or until they change the way they schedule again). The only thing that's up in the air year to year are the two games that are based on your finish from the previous year. Am I missing something?

Sorry if someone already brought this up... I didn't read all 200+ messages.

Cowboys get SEVEN nationally televised games:

Sun. Sept. 9 vs. New York Giants NBC

Sun. Sept. 23 at Chicago NBC

Mon. Oct. 8 at Buffalo ESPN

Sun. Nov. 4 at Philadelphia NBC

Thur. Nov. 22 vs. New York Jets CBS

Thur. Nov. 29 vs. Green Bay NFL Network

Sat. Dec. 22 at Carolina NFL Network

Plus they have games against New England, Giants, and Philadelphia that will probably be broadcast to 90% of the nation due to the 4:15ET time slot. That makes a total of 10.

Updated...Thread for SuperJohn96's Annual NFL Schedule Grid - 2007 Edition

I just noticed some interesting schedule quirks.

New Orleans - Weeks 10, & 11 they play STL, and HOU. Each of these teams will be coming off of their BYE week.

Buffalo - weeks 10 and 11 play MIA and NE. MIA and NE are coming off of BYE weeks. Note that Miami will by flying back from London and their week 8 game.

Pittsburgh - Week 9 and 11 play BAL and NYJ. Each team comes off of their BYE week.

Bye weeks?MNF/SNF appearances?Planning out which games you're going to get tickets for?Other timing factors? (as a Pats fan, I love to see Miami come to town in late December...)BTW, all sixteen games for each team were known by January -- but you didn't know when they'd all played during the season.

You are correct about St Louis and Houston, but Jacksonville has their BYE in week 4, not in week 8.

It's because Dallas has the largest fan base in the U.S. More people will watch their games than any other team. Never underestimate the almighty dollar. :goodposting: Cheers!

I hate that Green Bay got Oakland up at Lambeau in December instead of San Diego or Philly. It makes a game that they should have won kind of an automatic instead of making a game that they are supposed to lose, since everyone thinks Green Bay cannot beat any of the "good" teams in the NFL, more entertaining.

Oh Well.

The first 7 weeks will tell how much of a chance they have at the post season. If they are 3-4 by the bye week I think they will be in very good shape.

 ??? Are you sure about this?
I just figured since they have the most prime time games it would be because of their draw. You know the "America's Team" label etc. has gotta mean something when the NFL puts them at the front of the ratings list 7-10 times. I just wish they would finish more of their games in the regular season so we can have a real shot at getting back to the SB. But giving away 3-4 games each year will ultimately kill you in the playoffs when you have to go on the road in Dec./Jan. And playing in the NFC East is not the division to be in if you are not gonna finish games. IMO.
