The Official 2011 Boston Red Sox Thread (2 Viewers)

Ahhhh, Jacoby, damn he is a helluva player.OK, coolstandings updated, now Sox at 88, Tampa at 11%. Still way too close for comfort. A Sox win / Tampa loss would go a long way to calming my nervousness tomorrow...
I did a little simulation at work...I think these numbers are overblown. They assume the Rays are playing the Yankees (as opposed to Scranton) and that the Sox are the mid-season Sox (and not the ones that take 5 extra innings to score on Scranton).Making each game a coin flip, odds are 66%/33% favoring Sox. I think something between 66 and 88 is the real number, let's call it 75/25.edit to add: If you give Sox and Rays each a 70% chance at winning each game, it goes to 80/20%

8 games to go, up by 2, I'll take it :pickle:Anyone who thought they would sweep yesterday rolling out Lackey / Weiland was smoking the good ####. A sweep was expected and all they needed. Now they have real pitchers pitching, will finish off the O's. Yankees series will be a good one tho
7 games to go, up by 2, I'll take it :pickle:Was at the game tonite, scored a pair of $150 tix for $40 each (home base pavilion). Not the best game, but it was a beautiful night and the scoreboard never showed a Rays run. There's two ways for them to make the postseason (altho the Angels need to be watched now, probably more of a threat than the Rays now that I look at schedules)
6 games to go, up by 2.5, I'll take it :pickle:
Can I get an update here? Pickle?

Does it make me a bad person that I go to overthemonster.com and giggle while reading the game threads. It gives me nearly as much joy as reading White Sox game threads.

Question to fellow Yankee fans -- I'll enjoy it as much as anyone teasing my Boston fan friends if they fail to make it, but deep down doesn't a part of you want the Sox to get in? It's way more fun playing your biggest rivals, I mean I can't imagine anything more fun than 2003 or worse than 2004. Or am I alone on this one? Most of my Yankee fan friends think I'm crazy and I wondered what you guys thought.

Nope. I want them on the golf course. Not to say that TB can't beat the Yankees (its the playoffs, anything can happen. Plus, the Rays are a good club) but I still think Boston is the more dangerous team. The top of the rotation is very good (and Beckett always kills NY) and the lineup is terrific (again, if the light comes back on)

#### that ####. I want them to go down in flames

I think wilked went camping again. Good thing Beckett didnt pitch yet
Naa, still here.I honestly am emotionally disengaging... Never seen a sadder waste of talent in my life. Francona has made terrible decisions lately, no one can hit save Ellsbury, no one can pitch save no one. They deserve to miss out on the playoffs. It won't matter if they sneak in, this team is toast

Nope... We have had plenty of Sox/Yanks battles and we will always have plenty of Sox/Yanks battles...You have to step aside for an Epic Collapse. These don't come around too often..Especially since this was supposed to be the best team in baseball entering the season and for much of the year... Just look at the title of this thread "Best team in Baseball..... Oh what a wood"...Good times. :banned:

Bahh... See, there is where it's all wrong.. Cuz game one of the playoffs and Beckett is on and Papi hits a moon shot and all the Pink Hats are in a tizzy again and in everyone's face.

Just let them die.

Hardcore #1 all-time Red Sux fan [icon] has time to post pro-SEC rhetoric in college football threads but no time to come around and talk baseball?

How shocking is that? Someone please tell me they're surprised. :lmao:

It's funny but it's not like we're talking Wooderson levels of bandwagoning here.

fasteddie Canucks bandwagon is worst all-time but Wooderson is top five for sure.

It would almost be worth the Sox winning the next two nights to see Lackey start the play-in game at Tampa on Thursday.

The best part about ALL of this is that the Yanks will be throwing double-A pitchers for most of the next two games.

I had free tickets to this game tonight, I wouldn't go see the Red Sux/O's if I was on fire and Camden Yards was a pool.

:shrug:Why do you hate baseball?I would go see any game if it was free, especially if it had playoff implications.
Are you kidding? Red Sux fans are out in force at that stadium and they are absolute asswads around here. Even the older fans are jerkoffs. You should have called me, I would have given them to you.

:lmao: I'm struggling to think of a bigger meltdown since I've really followed baseball (late 90's).
Mets 7 games up with 17 to go fail to make playoffsYanks 3 games up in 2004 ALCS
I was only talking about regular season let downs. As an A's fan I'm quite familiar with post-season let downs. I forgot about the Mets. That was pretty big as well. Thanks to you and Billy Bats.Yes, this is a meltdown even if they squeeze into the playoffs.

How does Crawford not make that catch?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Theo Epstein is the most overrated executive professional sports, and it's not close.

Never posted in this forum before.I'm terribly sorry for you Boston fans.-Cubs fan
You obviously don't know many Red Sux fans because if you did, you certainly wouldn't feel sorry for them right now. All the Red Sux haters that aren't Yankees fans don't hate the Red Sux because of their recent success. Know what I mean?
