The official Cam @ Texans week 15 scares the #$@ out of me (1 Viewer)

Another Cam and Romo owner here and I think I'm rolling with Romo as long as the weather is very good...any hint to rain, strong winds I'll pull the plug on Tony. Don't know about you guys but I also HATE having a player going on a Saturday game instead of Sunday or Monday.

So much for the "play your studs no matter what" belief. Count me in as one of those nervous about Cam's matchup with Houston. After going back and forth, I'm rolling with Tebow this week and looking forward to his first 300yd. passing game of the year.

I'll go ahead and say it....

I think this is the week that bites all Cam owners in the ###.... Not a total collapse, but enough of a dip that it costs people who have been riding him the chance to advance.

I'm guessing at a 220 YD PASS / 1 INT / 1 TD / 1 INT / 50 YD RUSH / 0 TD

Newton has been somewhat neutralized as a passer in the 2nd half...

Passer Rating : Fallen from 87.1 to 70.8

Yards Per Attempt : Fallen from 8.3 to 7.2

Passing Touchdowns: 1.38 TD/G in weeks 1-8 -- 0.8 TD/G in last 5 weeks (only 4 TD)

A large portion of his value in the 2nd half has come via an increase in rushing TD's.

9 of Cam's 13 TD's come from inside the 10. 8 of 13 come from inside the 5.

Houston has only allowed 6 total rushing TDs this season... I wonder how many have been from inside the 5 or 10?
Carolina is an elite offense. Can beat you on the ground or through the air. Top 10 in both categories.

Houston has done very well against bad offenses this year. Jax twice, Indy, Cleveland, TB, Cincy, Tennessee, and the Henne led Dolphins. They've got 2 quality wins against Pitt and Atlanta. The D was demolished by New Orleans, plus Baltimore and Oakland did fine against them. It could be argued that Houston is a product of their schedule just as much as you arguing against Carolina's offense vs Houston's D.

Carolina may give Houston everything they want and more this weekend.
Houston is rated as the 6th defense in the league by DVOA, which account for strength of opponent. Further, only Ryan, Big Ben, Flacco, and Brees have thrown for over 200 yards against them. The schedule hasn't been a gauntlet, but their defense is no fluke

I still think Cam will be just fine this week, via his legs. Steve Smith, otoh, might have a repeat of his 2/15 he had against Jax in that monsoon earlier this season.

I cannot see Houston coming home after clinching their first ever playoff spot laying an egg on the defensive side of the ball. Add in a dual RB attack to kill the clock and this one has all the makings of a Cam meltdown. He can put up average numbers but that will be his ceiling. But then again, this is the NFL... so anything can happen...

I don't like this matchup at all but my alternative is Vick and I like him even less this week. Hopefully Cam runs one in to help make up for his limited passing stats this week. :football:

I've officially changed my mind and am starting Romo over Cam. If I had another night to stew on it, I may switch it back. Here's hoping that all of us Cam owners survive to enjoy Cam explode against TB next week. :headbang:

The alarming thing for Cam is his 2nd half numbers in this second half of the season. He basically does almost nothing after halftime. Or maybe it just feels that way?

Cam had a solid game, but me swapping in Tebow for his first start was a positive. Sitting Smith for Beanie hurt a few points, so it ended up being a wash for me.

Unfortunately it has been a symptom of the team all year. Looks like they started to address it. That was a quality late drive against a top defense. And the Panthers D hung in for the most part. Special teams not so much.
