Is anyone else getting tired of seeing Barber come in and take ALL of the goalline action away from Julius Jones? As a Jones owner I contemplating trading him for what I can get as he looks pretty worthless.

Barber as the goalline back is nothing new. If you recall, this is what happened last year as well. I drafted MB3 four rounds after JJ for this very reason.

It certainly bothers me as a JJ owner. I'm not exactly clear on how Barber is more effective, either, considering he got stuffed repeatedly until finally gaining an inch to break the plane. Perhaps it is to save wear and tear on Jones, I don't know. But yes, it's very annoying.

Really really glad I'm not a JJ owner. The guy's always looked decent, but Barber has never looked any worse.

having a 43 yard catch and run, and about 20 yards of rushing called back due to flags isnt helping jones either..

though they have both looked good today

Barber deserves to be the feature back.
I'm a Barber owner but I don't believe he should be starting ahead of Jones. I view Jones as easily the superior talent. Not even close really. Barber, though, has value given Jones' durability issues.

I'm playing JJ. GB Barber. :)

JJ is and always will be the "softer" little brother....and TJ is not even close to Walter Payton tough. Julius was lucky to even be selected as early as he was and garner a good signing deal......Barber is a much better RB.

What does Julius do effectively.....really??? He doesn't wear down a defence, he goes down on easy arm tackles and he barely breaks long runs. And he gets pulled at the stripe...

3 yards and a cloud of dust...and then youpray he gets up after getting hammered in the hole.

Other then all of that, I guess he's awesome. :loco:

Hes very adept at fumbling.

Barber was in on any 3rd down or passing situation. He also had 4 tries at the endzone (inside the 5), stuffed on 3 and the 4th was called a TD though I thought he carried the ball at his waist and only his shoulder crossed the plane.

Barber was given a few series to himself. Barber caught the ball well, but his running left something to be desired.

His average may be high when you figure 4 of his 8 rushes were goalline runs. His other 4 counted as almost 10 yards a run. Kind of like Chris Perry in Cincinnati had inflated rushing on third and longs, Barber had the same. Easier to gain 8 yards on 3rd down when the defense is playing the pass 10 yards out. His "big run" of 15 yards was on a 3rd and 18.

If they needed a run, it was JJ; if they needed a pass, it was Barber. Barber was pass blocking nicely.

The very end of the game had Tyson Thompson in since the game was already decided.

Goal Line runs tend to bring DOWN a RB's average. If you're at the 1 and it takes a few tries to get it in, your stat for that particular series will look pretty awful and bring down your overall avg ypc.Barber was beaten badly on one Bledsoe sack, but otherwise blocked Ok.

Man, JJ owners sure hate MBIII and they are sometimes shocked when Parcells uses him to vulture carries. :lmao:

i never miss a 'boys game and a lot of you guys are flat out wrong.

barber is NOT the better runner in any sense of the word, he cant get the tough yards, trying to push everything outside.

if you see julius run he runs inside the tackles and does so well, hes not a shifty back but he can make people miss and has great open field moves.

barber is a good blocker which gives him the 3rd down carries but he has to run inside to get any chance of cutting into jones' carries.

I'm really not sure what everyone else is watching. JJ looks fine to me. He ran hard and made some nice moves in open space.

I agree. I think he's looked real good in both games so far and keep in mind he's faced two pretty good defenses. The fumble last night wasn't good but I think he's running extremely well so far. He has more power, burst and speed than Barber. I can't think of a single thing other than receiving that Barber does better. And again, I'm a Barber owner. Jones is by far the best RB on the Dallas roster in my opinion.

I'm tired of seeing JJ get the other carries. How long before Bill installs MBIII as the starter
why would he? JJ had 94 rushing yards last nigth and 111 total yards and a TD game 1
I'll admit I'm a Barber owner, but he is my RB5, so I don't think I'm biased. I've been following Parcells since his Giants days, and he has always gathered certain types around him. MB3 is one of those types. Hard runner, totally fearless. Sooner or later, the Tuna will make him the starter.

Barber is my RB5 as well and I'd love to see him become the starter. But honestly, the only way I see that happening is if Jones gets hurt -- which obviously could happen given Jones' history of injuries. But I don't see Jones losing the starting job if both are healthy. Barber simply isn't as good of a RB and I'm really surprised to hear people argue that he is. I don't think it's really close in terms of talent. Jones is clearly, in my opinion, the more gifted RB.

I already know the rushing attempts and receptions, but I'm curious to know the snap breakdown between JJ and MB3? Who was on the field for the most plays?

Reading comprehension 101: read the whole paragraph.
His other 4 counted as almost 10 yards a run.
I didn't count the 4 carries inside the 5 yardline for the average.
