The Official I Will Never Draft Joseph Addai Again Thread (1 Viewer)

Jackson had two season where he played at least 15 games, and totaled 526 fantasy points.Westbrook had two seasons where he played at least 15 games, and totaled 540 fantasy points.Addai had two seasons where he played at least 15 games, and totaled 423 fantasy points. Not that most people would need to compare stats to figure out that Addai is nowhere near as talented as Jackson, Peterson or Westbrook. Addai = decent talent in great system. Which you prety much know, because every time he has a bad game you blame it on the Oline, Manning, Colts defense, etc. The good ones produce despite being banged up, or issues with the supporting cast. I understand looking at your players with some optomism, but you take it WAY too far.
I hope I don't offend you, but unless you play in a 2-year keeper league breaking down "two seasons" is just cherry picking stats. Years by themselves hold merit. And you can certainly state that Westy and SJ had superior single years. And to compare anyone to Westy at this point in his career (how old is he?) is a bit unfair. Addai holds up rather Well to SJ, and vice versa -- when contemplating fantasy merit.
I listed those two seasons because it was the only ones where each player played at least 15 games. Thaty may be cherry picking stats a bit, but it favors Addai as much as the others as this is his worst season, and i left it out.Point being, Switz compared Addai to AD, SJax and Westbrook, which is crazy, any way you slice it.

Do you HONESTLY think Addai is as talented as Westbrook? Seriously? I surely hope not.
The talent margin in the NFL is incredibly slim. Outside of a very very rare talent, a la Barry Sanders or perhaps Adrian Peterson, most RBs are comparable talents. The difference is not in the amount of talent they have, but in the way they are used, and the cast surrounding them. The skillsets of some RBs mesh so well with the offensive scheme they are in, that there is a synergy which results in better production than a change in either component would. Take Westy, and put him on another team and he might never have become a starter.Bottom line, an argument about talent between NFL players is a weak argument. It's difficult to measure by physical attributes or production, they are all very close in talent.Michael Turner, Terrell Davis, Brian Westbrook, etc. all later round picks. Were they lesser talents than Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Cedric Benson, William Green? Were the RBs in the second list lacking talent?
Do you really think because they were drafted in later rounds means they were lesser talents?

Just asking now, where do any of you rate him talent-wise? IMO he's no better than an average starting back, there's at least 20 backs in the NFL I'd take before him for my NFL team.
He is definately bottom half in talent amongst NFL RB's. I can easily think of 20-25 RB's i would rather have than him.

He'll have a big game next week. Bank on it.
Anybody want to be that even if Addai does well, Rhodes does better? And from the sounds of Dungy's press conference today, I'm not so sure we can assume Addai will even play on Sunday. He's back to being "OK." The last time Dungy said Addai was OK he missed two games. The Colts don't need Addai to beat the Colts (one could argue they don't need him anyway given how bad he's been and they're still winning). If Addai isn't 100% the Colts might as well sit him and ride Rhodes to the win. It's safe to say Rhodes will be more than fine as the starter given how he's outperformed Addai this season.

I'd take the following RBs over Addai in terms of talent (listed in no particular order)LynchJonesLTLarry JohnsonWillie ParkerMJDChris JohnsonSteve SlatonMarion BarberBrandon JacobsPortisWestbrookGoreSteven JacksonGrantPetersonForteDeAngelo Williams (maybe Jonathan Stewart if he could ever stay healthy)Reggie Bush (and Pierre Thomas if he continues to play at his current level)Michael TurnerThat's 20-22 RBs in the league I'd take over Addai in terms of talent (and that's not including Rhodes, who has proven to be Addai's equal in terms of ability this season). From a fantasy perspective, that's a pretty good projection of where I will rank Addai next year - in the 25-30 range among RBs.

I've never understood why he's been drafted as a RB1. Last season was an aberration and he was 5th. He has upside as a RB2 but no way does he have the talent to be a consistent RB1.So I've never owned him.
I'm one of the dummies that listened to Switz and others talk him up this preseason (no offense Switz). I was down on him and then listened to the hype, looked at his easy schedule and thought he was a no brain pick at #5, I couldn't have been more wrong! He is definatley a RB3 and no more. As I have watched the games this year it is clear that dispite the Oline woes, Rhodes is the better running back. He runs with WAY more authority and is a better receiver out of the backfield. I wwill NEVER draft him again.

We can only pray that Addai doesnt play this week. Rhodes could be a stud vs DET
