The only undefeated team in the NFL (1 Viewer)

Who saw that coming? I'm guessing you could have cleaned up on that if Vegas had a "pick the last team to still be undefeated" bet.

Its been a wild first four weeks in the NFL. This season is wide open. The Saints and Colts aren't looking as good as last year.

I am happy for the Chiefs. The team and the coaching sure got beat up on these boards over the last several months and even if they aren't nearly as good as their record they can say they are the last undefeated team this year! Good for them.

As a KC fan, I am very surprised by that fact. However, I really think the optimism of the KC fan base is justified in terms of this being a young but talented team headed in the right direction. I'm not suggesting they will all be fitted for superbowl rings after this season, but they are raw with a ton of potential and have the pieces in place to be a real force in the league for the next few years. They will continue to surprise people this season, but I think they will be on evryone's radar next year.

 When a team is as poorly coached and as young as they were in the Herm years, it's easy to overlook players. But they have a TON of high picks, particularly on defense- Dorsey, Jackson, Hali, DJ, Berry, Flowers, Arenas. Best move of any team in the offseason: Chiefs signing Romeo Crennel. That dude has been lights-out and is getting the best out of all those guys, most of which have disappointed in the last few years. Notably Dorsey, who's playing like a monster on the line.

The Chiefs have some talent but Cassell is not the answer at QB. That weakness will be apparent as the season progresses.

The best part is that there is some diehard KC homer out there trying to convince everyone that the Chiefs are going undefeated this year...and he believes it.

Cassell is horrible... but special teams, run game, and a big play defense should keep the Chiefs in games. If they can run the ball like Jax did, they should stay in the game against Indy. Their pass defense is far better than Jax as well, but Manning is playing at a very high level. 4-0 will be tough, but not impossible.

It's already apparent. They'll lose some games they outplay their opponent and they need a new QB.

Still, good times ahead.

This is going to be the earliest that Mercury Morris guzzles down some champagne in a long time. This year will be almost unevenful for him. Bet he's bummed that he won't be shown on TV.

The Chiefs are going to jam the ball down the throat of a hopeless Colts run defense. Look for 200+ yards from Charles, Jones, and McCluster this Sunday.

That would be early. Has there ever been a year where there were no 4-0 teams? I'm guessing no...

That's what's even more surprising though, because most of those high picks have been huge busts. For example, Tyson Jackson lost his starting job and is like 3rd or 4th string.

LOL That's bad intel.Tyson Jackson hasn't lost his job to anyone. He injured his knee during the San Diego game and has been inactive for the past 2 games. He should either be back this week or next week. Shaun "sack grabbing" Smith has taken his place in his absence.

As far as the Chiefs other high picks, let's take a look:

2009- Tyson Jackson

2008- Glenn Dorsey- An anchor of the D-Line. Playing good football

2008- Branden Albert- Looking like a franchise LT. Playing the best ball of his career

2008- Brandon Flowers- Playing at a Pro Bowl Level

2008- Jamaal Charles- One of the most explosive players in the NFL

2007- Dwayne Bowe- Has had his up's and down but has been a very good player. His first 2 season he had 2,000 receiving and 12 TD's

2006- Tamba Hali- Leads Chiefs with 3.5 sacks. Led the team last season with 8.5 sacks.

Did you even read my post? And like the guy above said, completely wrong as far as Jackson goes. Starter and played well against SD before going out to injury. WAY early to label a DL a bust after 17 games, especially one changing position to 3-4 end.

Funny how that works. They bring in a guy who can actually coach defense (unlike Cunningham and Pendergast) and guys with talent start looking like Pro Bowlers. FWIW Flowers has been excellent for 2 years now since being drafted and Hali has been an 8-sack guy year in and year out, and should push 12-13 this year.

And if I needed to say ANYTHING else, your leading tackler is a former Chief who didn't get any coaching and sucked before going to a new town and playing well. Like I said, funny how that works.

Interesting to see how the Chiefs handle the Colts offense this week.

Considering Crennel's game-planning knowledge against Manning from his Patriot days (and the Colts lack of a running game) I wouldn't be surpised if the Chiefs gave the Colts a close game.

Let's throw a wrench in the works here...weren't all of the bolded players Herm picks? I think Weiss and Crennel are saving Haley's ###. They are working wonders with the Herm regime holdovers. Haley has tried his hardest to get rid of all of Herm's guys and replace them with "his" type of guys. All the credit goes to the coordinators. Haley is a cancer on that team. He will probably prevent quality FA's from landing there too...that and the Chiefs don't wanna pay anyone other than overrated QB's that they pick up from the Pats.

I just don't trust that Sieve Indy defence - JC and McCluster could have a field day. Crennel has proved before that he can contain Manning.

That was Jacket's original point. These guys were high picks, regardless who chose them, that were underperforming with the previous coaching staff. By bringing in Weiss and Crennel, these guys have been coached up and are now becoming the players they were thought to be when they were drafted. Thus, the 3-0 started isn't so much a mirage, but a group of young and talented players coming into their own. And to your point on who drafted the talent.....I think this year's draft with Pioli and Haley at the reigns speaks for itself (Berry, McCluster, Arenas, Moeaki and Kendrick Lewis).

Finally, Haley has calmed down significantly this season, and really focused on bringing the team together instead of tearing them down like last season. He readily admits he was an ahole last season, but he felt that he needed to be to change the culture and attitude of the entire franchise. We'll see how it plays out, but so far so good this season. Haley didn't stop Thomas Jones from coming to the team, and Chris Chambers re-signed as a free agent. I think you're drastically overstating Haley's flaws.

I wonder how much KC is HCBC (head coach by committee) since Weiss and Crennell were both former head coaches in the NFL? At one point I was even speculating that Weiss was a head coach in waiting but I don't believe that to be the case anymore due to his health. Weiss and Crennel probably love the fact that Haley has to deal with the media and be the chief disciplinarian and they get insulated to just do what they do best (OC and DC).

Who saw that coming? I'm guessing you could have cleaned up on that if Vegas had a "pick the last team to still be undefeated" bet.
The Bears would still be undefeated if they didn't play either. They have a shot at 4-0 but lets talk after they play.

You were really confused? I'm surprised you didn't point out he misspelled Crennel and Weis. He made a mistake, move on. But his point is valid. Having Crennel and Weis is a huge upgrade for any team. While they might not be great head coaches (college or NFL, I don't want to confuse Polar Dude), they are great coordinators. They bring rings, experience and proven systems. Scott Pioli is no dummy and the Chiefs are up and coming for sure.

I doubt they make the playoffs and they are probably still a few years away. But when you combine a great gm, great coordinates and some decent talent you're going to do well. Very fun team to watch to boot.

Hmm... I'll admit bad intel. Thought he lost his job in the preseason, but reading back it was just that Jackson was very close to losing his starting job to Smith during the last week of preseason.

There was concern (and still is) about him coming out of training camp, but he played pretty well against the Chargers before he got hurt. The guy was invisible last season, and he actually made some plays against the Chargers. Jury is still out, but they certainly haven't given up on him.
