"The other Adrian Peterson" released by Seattle (1 Viewer)

Devil's Advocate
The Seattle Seahawks released running back Adrian Peterson, less than a week after signing the former member of the Chicago Bears.

Peterson has spent the last eight seasons with the Bears and ran for 51 yards on seven carries last season. In 106 games since 2002, Peterson has 311 carries, 1,283 yards and eight touchdowns. He has also amassed 665 receiving yards on 78 catches.
:kicksrock: No more sticking this Adrian Peterson on the roster of the owner who selected the real Adrian Peterson.

Hilarity would always ensue, especially if I didn't return my emails for a week after the draft. :)

That is evil...BTW, I am always obsessed with players who played sparingly (especially in skill positions), yet remained on one team for a while.

8 years and 311 carries for a RB (not FB) is roughly 38 carries/year or 2.4 carries/game...just unreal that he managed to stay there so long.

Todd Collins' run in KC is actually better - five years on the team and he tossed the ball 27 times...for comparison, Jim Sorgi (the rarely used QB in Indy) during his six years behind Peyton tossed the ball over 150 times.

From what I recall, his value has always been as a terrific special teams player. That is probably what kept him around for that long.I imagine that special teams was going to be his role in Seattle as well, so if he was cut that quickly, he must have lost that aspect of his game.

:excited: Peterson was a special teams ace in Chicago, plus he was consumate team player and class act. That helped him stay in Chicago for a long time.
