Hey, we could let the organizations enjoy a hard-fought victory for at least a day, but where's the fun in that?

Anyone really see the Chargers (even healthy) beating the Patriots? Can the Giants really contain Favre, Grant and the weather? Or is an emotional division victory too much to recover from?

I know "that's why they play the game" but Patriots/Packers seems like a sure thing. I respect both organizations (especially since they traded with each other and are starting those very QBs now), but I see blowouts.

I see the NE/SD game as a coinflip.

Conversely, I think Green Bay SMOKES the Giants, who's pass rush will be neutered by GB's oline and who's secondary will be shredded by Favre.

If I'm a Charger fan I'm happy as I could be with the way my team played today and I'd go into next week just hoping for the best but I don't see how they win.

The Chargers were arguably a better team last year than this years version and it's no argument last years Chargers are better than a Charger team without LT, Rivers or Gates. The Pats were worse last year but still the Pats went into SD and beat them. Earlier this year a healthy Charger team got embarrassed in NE. I can't see a justifiable reason how a banged up Charger team that could not win at home last year and got blown out this year is going to travel into 15 degree Foxboro team and knock off the Pats. I just can't see it. For what it's worth I honestly felt the Chargers could win today and I bet on it. That's not to say if you put a gun to my head and asked me to pick a winner straight up would I have chosen the Chargers because I would not have. But I like to bet the money lines which had the Chargers paying out 4.5 to 1 and to me I felt SD had a good chance based on some matchups, the way they played the Colts in the past and the fact the Colts have not played a football game that meant anything to them in a few weeks. This week, no matter what odds they give the Chargers to win against the Pats I won't bet it.

I like the Pack to beat the Giants but I think the Giants have a chance and them winning would not be shocking in the least. They are playing solid football and more importantly are playing solid football on the road.

As a packer fan I'd love for the pack to have a shot at sending NE home with an 18-1 season...but to say SD & NYG don't have a chance after their performances today is rather bold IMO...

I see the NE/SD game as a coinflip.
:goodposting:
Yeah, no kidding. Home field advantage for the Pats, an embarrassing defeat earlier in the season for the Chargers, not to mention injuries, and you think it's a coinflip? Forget the undefeated thing, those elements alone give the Pats at least a 3 point edge, don't you think?
Home field is worth 3 points.Anyone who looks at the early season victory against the Bolts as predictive is a stone cold moron.I'll be happy to revise my projection when it is confirmed that LT, Rivers and Gates are all out, but don't discount revenge.

How much would you bet on a "sure thing"?

I agree. The outcomes today will make next Sunday a bore. The Superbowl will be great though. Interesting storylines.

Chargers will come in with a chip on there shoulders and with confidence after beating the 2nd best team in the afc in indy...they will play the pats tough for a half , then the pats will pull away and win by 2 scores.I dont think the weather will affect the giants as they play in new york in the snow and cold every year. Farve is having fun for the first time in years and it`s showing , he looks sooo motivated and it`s infecting the entire team...they look like superbowl contenders right now.The giants will keep it close but in the end farve and ryan and jennings will be to much for the g -men..they win by at least 7

RE: the Giants......only two team have won three straight road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl....the 2005 Steelers and the 1985 Patriots. While I love what they are doing, what they are trying to do has only been done TWICE in the history of the league.

Tom Brady and the evil undefeated Patriots vs Tough 'N Gritty Brett Favre and the young and tenacious Packers.

So what? How often has a team gone 16-0 in the regular season? Not that I'm picking them......

2/41 is oddly close to the 5% "evil Favre" probability (see some other thread I'm too lazy to link to).Coincidence?-=kwantam(um, yes, it is, but whatever)

Neither the Giants or the Chargers had much of a chance this week either.
 Maybe most people did have Indy winning, but a good number of us in the FFA gambling thread called the Giants on money line.
I'm not talking money line. I'm talking win vs loss. Go look up the record of how many times the #1 seed has lost in the NFC in the Div. round. My point was that not many people were giving the Giants or the Chargers much of a chance this week. It's the playoffs, it's anyone's game. This week alone should tell you that.

I cant see SD going into NE and winning. But I hope they can hang tight and make it a good game. I was looking forward to the big Indy/NE showdown TBH.

I guess it would depend on if I was a gambler, and how much money I had at the time. I'd probably bet more on the Patriots than the Packers.

The Patriots aren't worth it. 1-4 Odds or something like that I think. You need to bet $400 to win $100 I think.

 :goodposting: Giants didn't have a chance??
Not many people were giving them much of a chance. Go look up the record of the NFC #1 seed losing in the Div. round since the merger.
What's that got to do with anything? I know at least one guy who gave them a chance. Chargers on the other hand.......
My main point was in regards to the couple of posts above my original one. Saying the neither the Giants or Chargers have a chance this coming week. Not many people were saying they had much of a chance this past week and look what happend.

If the Packers block like they did against Seattle I don't think anyone is beating them. That was pretty sick.

I think it had somthing to do with the snow and the Seattle D sucking however so the Giants do have a small chance.

San Diego with all of their injuries against the Pats is no contest.

Favre vs. Brady will be a great SB. Packers heart broken by Randy Moss will be the outcome in a great game.

I can see the Giants beating the Packers and San Diego beating NE so I don't agree that it is set. I would say that neither the Giants or Packers can beat the Chargers or Patriots. And yes I do realize the Packers beat the Chargers but obviously the Chargers are playing better now and wouldn't have to play at Green Bay this time.

I can see the Giants winning especially if the game stays close. When is the last time the Packers won a close game they had to fight for? They beat the Lions by 11 (if that wasn't as close as the score says, next game is over KC by 11 on 11/4. If that also is not as close as it seems, then the most recent single digit difference they won is Denver by 6 on 10/29) the week before the Dallas game and since then, they have lost or beating people by too much to have any pressure on them. Compare that to the Giants who have played tough games for awhile now and if that game is close at the end, the Giants will have the edge in mental toughness to look at each other and say lets do it again.

The Chargers do need to get their guys in the game to have a chance and if they keep it close, they could pull it out. I would guess that LT needs to play and be highly effective for them to win. Most likely the Patriots win and will stomp who ever comes out of the NFC.

Oh please, the Packers pounded the #### out of the Chargers. Did you watch the last game? They went down 14-0 in the first minute and had to "fight" to get back. And fight they did. I hope we get to see the Packers vs. the Chargers, I really do. You really think that Eli Manning is mentally tougher than Brett Favre? I'd say Ryan Grant showed some mental toughness last weekend when he fumbled twice and then hung two hundy on the Seahawks.

Amen brother :blackdot:

This guy is right. With Belichick having an extra week to prepare, as well as not having the spectre of 'videogate' hanging over his head like it was early in the season, this beating will be even more severe than the one they laid on them earlier in the year.I don't think the Chargers score a single point in this game (*predictions to be used for entertainment purposes only), but they won't care because they "made it this far".There's going to be a lot of boo-hooing this week from the Chargers about how it's too bad they're not at full strength and that they had a "hellofa season". They're just satisfied to be this far. They have no juice left and will just get ho-slapped this weekend. This game is going to be over in the first 3 minutes. Really.

Nope and Nope.

Although, maybe Merriman and SD take out Brady (revenge game?) or at least make it rough for them and give GB a chance in the SB.

I think your point has no merit. The Giants are more prepared to compete because the Packers have been winning too big? P.S. Please look at more than the final score before posting. The Packers were actually losing to the Chiefs (in KC) with 5:00 left in that game....a late pick-6 for the Packers makes that score look more lopsided than the game really was. Those were two gutsy last-minute victories on the road in very tough venues vs. DEN and KC in consecutive weeks for the Packers...

I'll follow the theory that the Superbowl matchup that everyone wants gets derailed and NY wins a close one making the bowl a complete bore.

Chargers = NO CHANCEGiants = GREAT CHANCE
 Really the only unbeatable team in this whole thing is New England. I wish they'd just hurry up and give them the Lombardi Trophy already and be done with it.
I agree on this, but it won't be over after that happens. I PROMISE you there will be non-stop commercials for the rest of the year for those commemorative DVD sets to remember their historic season. All the way until next season starts... and if they keep Moss it may all start all over again. That entire franchise is a machine. They should have won the SB last season.
