I came thisclose to projecting LenDale to New England. When it came down to it, however, I just saw CB as a bigger need for a team that is built to win now. If they re-sign Law or another free agent CB, then White would be my pick there.I don't think Lendale White would make it past New England.
But d-back is much deeper than RB talent like White. Look at the mock put together by nfldraftcountdown.com. Theres seven cornerbacks projected by them going in the 2nd. White and a 2nd round CB does the Pats more good than Tye Hill and whatever they'd end up with in the 2nd.I came thisclose to projecting LenDale to New England. I don't dismiss the possibility at all. However, with the glut of free-agent RBs, the presence of Corey Dillon (nicked up next year, but still capable of being a 1,500 yard back) and the presence of a guy like Hill, who has the coveted "lockdown corner" potential, I saw Hill as being the better pick. This mock was primarily designed by matching a team's biggest need with the best available player at that position, provided value was there. The Patriots could use a RB, but they desperately need secondary help. By the time pick 52 rolls around, you're likely looking at the second-tier guys, and I don't know if they'd pass up a chance to grab a guy like Hill, who has 4.4 (or better) speed and has unbelievable upside. But d-back is much deeper than RB talent like White. I agree, but DB isn't as bad off as it might seem. Ellis Hobbs played pretty well as a rookie last year and Randall Gay will be coming back from injury.I don't dismiss the possibility at all. This is sort of my reason as well. I'm not sure the free agent RBs fit their style of offense with the exception of J. Lewis. With the draft being shallow at RB I think they have too snatch up White and hope they can address DB in the second. But d-back is much deeper than RB talent like White. Based on your mock I would say Greenway or Huff, probably Greenway though.Given the first 8 players off the board in this mock, and without trading down, who do you think they take at #9? Greenway? One of the OTs? Huff/Williams? Always looking for homer input.....Your line of reasoning isn't horrible, but the Lions depth at LB is pretty deceiving. IMO they either go OLine, LB, or secondary.I think they have to address the defensive side of the ball in round 1. That one was seriously a tough pick, but after staring at their depth chart for about 10 minutes, I finally decided on Redding as the player they'd likely most want to upgrade, hence Hali at 1.9. This could go a lot of different ways, though - an OL is certainly a possibility, but with Ferguson and Justice already off the board in my mock, I didn't see the value at OT in their spot. As I mentioned, they very easily may trade down from this spot with an OT in mind, but at #9, to me, it boiled down to Greenway and Hali as the two best talents available at need positions. The depth of LB in this draft, coupled with the premium typically placed on pass rushers on draft day, led me to the Hali pick.I'd be very surprised if the Lions go D-line with their 1st round pick.

Do you honestly see this? They spent a 2nd rounder on Shelton last year. Goings has also produced very well when given the chance to play. I see them going after a TE or receiver to complent Smith honestly. Am I the only one who sees this?27. CAR - LenDale White, RB, USC
I know, no way does LenDale make it to #27, right? Well, that may be, but as I said, I am not projecting trades here. Frankly, there just aren't a ton of teams with burning needs at RB this year, and the free agent market is going to cure a lot of what ills there are without teams having to burn top draft picks on running backs. Carolina, however, DOES have a huge need at RB with Davis finished and Foster a giant question mark, and White would be an ideal fit for a team that likes to run the ball down the opponent's throat. Panthers get a gift here.
HAHAHA, best part of the whole mock....13. BAL - Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech.
Tough choice here - Baltimore, besides their fruity uniforms
Shelton was terrible in pre-season last year and they IR'd him on some lame excuse. Goings is a tweener FB-RB and not even close to the talent that White would bring.Do you honestly see this? I think if White were still on the board (unlikely) when Carolina picks, yeah, they'd jump all over him.Do you honestly see this? They spent a 2nd rounder on Shelton last year. With Jason Fabini just getting cut by the Jets, expect Dallas to sign him to be their RT for 2006. Fabini was originally drafted by Parcells. And we know how much the Tuna loves his former players.

That and the bit in the Chad Greenway blurb were my two favorites.....
If Fabini does in fact sign with Dallas, that would take the first-round OT possibility, slim as it is, completely out of the equation. With Jason Fabini just getting cut by the Jets, expect Dallas to sign him to be their RT for 2006. I think drafting a tackle in the first round is out of the question anyway. They all ready have Petitti if they want a young prospect that will have to learn. I think they sign Fabini as soon as his plane lands in Dallas. They have Petitti to learn behind him and replace him when he retires or gets hurt. Petitti wasn't as bad as people made him out to be, it was just the combination of having Flozell out and a rookie T on the other side. With Flozell back, Campbell can stay in to help Petitti block unlike last year where they needed two TE to stay and block. If Fabini does in fact sign with Dallas, that would take the first-round OT possibility, slim as it is, completely out of the equation. With Jason Fabini just getting cut by the Jets, expect Dallas to sign him to be their RT for 2006.
