The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out (1 Viewer)

I'm currently re-obsessed with the Smiths. Go listen to them again, y'all.
Morrissey's new album brought me The Smiths into heavy rotation again with me
Is it good? I've been reading mixed reviews. Some say he's devolved into self-parody if he wasn't already there.

Johnny Marr is a genius.
I'm a huge Morrissey/Smiths fan but is that its very self indulgent. First go around I thought it was poor but its growing to ok at best.

Johnny Marr is a genius.
Marr's solo album last year was very likeable. He's no Morrissey as a singer or lyricist but Marr has retained his gifts with riffs and melody no matter what post-Smiths project he happened to be involved in.

I loved The It Switch, but I didn't hear anything else. Need to seek that out.

Personally, I like them better than Pink Floyd
Careful, you might be hung for that statement.
Pictures are hung, people are hanged.

Or wait, were you talking about something else...?
"Our evidence shows that hung for hanged is certainly not an error. Educated speakers and writers use it commonly and have for many years. . . . " Hanged is, however, more common than hung in writing. It is especially prevalent when an official execution is being described, but it is used in referring to other types of hanging as well. . . .

"The distinction between hanged and hung is not an especially useful one (although a few commentators claim otherwise). It is, however, a simple one and easy to remember. Therein lies its popularity. If you make a point of observing the distinction in your writing you will not thereby become a better writer, but you will spare yourself the annoyance of being corrected for having done something that is not wrong."

Meh, it was a cheap way of getting to a good joke. <_<

I am not a big fan, in fact I always wonder what the fuss is about. But There Is Light That Never Goes Out is incredible. Great song.

I'm 42 years old and still love singing along with an entire Smiths album from start to finish. I know every word of Louder than Bombs, Queen is Dead, and Strangeways Here We Come. It's what I do in the car.
