The Time Capsule Thread (1 Viewer)

1. Jamal Lewis serves only a day in jail after his conviction is overturned on a technicality hours after hiring Johnny Cochrane to join his legal defense team.2. In an attempt to pay back some of the millions of dollars demanded by the Miami Dolphins, Ricky Williams appears in a tourism commercial for Jamaica.3. Doug Flutie leads San Diego as the starting QB with a 5-game winning streak that earns them a wild-card spot into the playoffs.

Getting serious....1. Rod Smith will be a top 5 WR in 2004, leading the league in receptions.2. LaDainian Tomlinson takes San Diego to the playoffs.3. Michael Vick rushes for 800 yards.

1. Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks pick up where they left off and end the season in the top 5 passing offenses in the NFL.2. All of the Tatum Bell boosters are disappointed and frustrated with their wasted draft picks by the end of 2004 (unless Q. Griffin suffers catastrophic injury).3. Josh McCown/the Cardinals' QBs endure 50+ sacks behind their horrible O-line.

1. Garcia, Favre, and Gannon will finish in the top 10.2. R. Johnson, L. Suggs, and T. Jones will not finish in the top 20.3. Rice, Toomer, and J. Smith will finish in the top 20.Bonus:4. Gonzalez, Heap, and Shockey will not finish in the top 3.

- None of the "hyped" TEs will break out (Gates, Crumpler, Whitten, etc.) It's going to be TG, Heap, Shockey, Winslow....then everyone else.- No New England WR will break the top 40 fantasy WRs.- Alstott will be a TD and reception monster this year.

1 - Chris Brown lives up to the hype, becomes a top 10 RB this year, and is a first round pick next year.2 - Not one of the rookie WR class has a Boldin/Moss/Glenn year... i.e. 1k+ 9TD+.3. Suggs has an injury Plagued year and goes out by mid year, Green takes over and helps a few teams win a SB as a swing/RB3 with 700 Yards and 6 TD in the second half of the season.Bonus - Miami picks first in the 2005 draft.

Ok, I will give it a try...1) Moulds' fantasy #s (FBG scoring) will be more like his 2002 #s, as opposed to last years.2) Barber, Dayne, Martin, Jordan, Emmitt, and Hambrick COMBINED will not get 20 total rushing tds.3) None of the Minny RBs (Bennett, Williams, Smith) will get more than 1000 total rushing yards.

Well let's see what the crystal ball says...

1. Rich Gannon returns to form, although he won't come close to his ten 300-yard passing games, as he did in 2002.

2. Every year a rookie RB makes the top 10. This year's entrant is...."Nobody". It won't happen this year. First year in the modern era that a rookie RB won't make the top 10.

3. Tony Hollings will make an impact this year. I'm not predicting an injury to Domanick Davis, but I see him really impressing us.

4. The Patriots will lose at least 5 games.

5. San Diego will surprise us.

6. Jeff Garcia will latch onto Andre Davis.

1) Tatum Bell becomes the starter for Denver this year2) Chris Perry becomes the starter for Cinci this year3) LaDainian Tomlinson scores the most FF points of all non kickersteam:Chargers go over 4.5 wins (this one's easy money folks).

3) LaDainian Tomlinson scores the most FF points of all non kickers
 What is your scoring, when you're implying that kickers score more than the top RBs? NONE of my leagues have this situation. If it's FG/TD only, I highly doubt this will happen, as Priest and Ahman, among others will score more TDs.

1) Julius Jones finishes as a top 20 RB2) Tom Brady finishes as a top 3 QB3) Keenan McCardell finishes as a top 20 WR4) Both Grammatica brothers are out of the NFL5) Charlie Garner is a top 15 RB in a +1 per reception league6) No Falcon or Cardinal winds up in the top 10 at their respective positions.

3) LaDainian Tomlinson scores the most FF points of all non kickers

I'm just covering all the bases - In TD only leagues kickers are the highest scoring players most of the time.Ex. even with Holmes's monster season last year, he was outscored by Jeff Wilkins in straight NFL points. And yes, I am saying LaDainian will have more TDs than everyone else as well - that's what makes it an "interesting" (or crazy) prediction.

Alright, cool then. I hope you're right.:proudLTowner:

1. Michael Strahan breaks the single season sack record again. 2. Mike Vick gets involved in a sex scandal which we have to watch every night on sportscenter for the next 8 months.3. The sex scandal is with McGreevey, the former Governor(?) of NJ.

1. I repeat as fantasy regular season winner2. I repeat as fantasy playoffs winner3. I repeat as suicide pool winnerKEEP THE STREAK ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, how are you doing so far?Mine:

So, without further ado, my three predictions for the 2004 season:1. Michael Vick will lead all quarterbacks in fantasy scoring this year, and will be a candidate for an early second round selection in next years draft (12 team leagues).
 I still think he could be end up in the top 5, but he's definitely not doing what I expected he would with his athleticism.
2. Josh McCown will finish in the top 10 in quarterback scoring.
 I'm pretty comfortable saying that this is not going to happen, though when Boldin comes back, Josh's numbers should improve.
3. Plaxico Burress will finish with over 1000 yards and 10 TD's
 This is the prediction that I have the best shot at. He's got 356 yards and 2 TD's, but his production has picked up with Roethlisberger in there.

I decided to post before reading too many, I don't want to be "corrupted" ;)

1. Kevin Dyson gets over 1000 yards and helps San Diego go .500 :bag:

1. Richie Anderson is the top FF RB in Dallas in PPR leagues.

2. Rex Grossman is NOT the starting QB for the Bears after midseason. Jonathan Quinn has mild success, somewhere around the #20 QB for the 2nd half, and Chicago has a QB controversy for 2005.

3. At the end of the year, TJ Duckett has us talking about his similarity to Shaun Alexander and puts up comparable stats.

4. Eric Johnson is the top receiver in SF, and helps them make the playoffs.

(how's that for going out on a limb? )
Well, how are you doing so far?
Ok, not great, but when you're swinging for the fences, you're bound to miss on a few.1a. Totally off on the Dyson bit :bag:

1b. Looking good, Richie is the top Dallas RB in my main leagues

2. Half credit. Rex is out, Quinn is in, but he isn't quite setting the league on fire. However, once you factor out the 3 games he didn't play, he's at #25 with Brunell and McCown. Time will tell here.

3. Well, at least Duckett played more last week. I'll say I missed on this one for now anyway.

4. Hit on Eric Johnson  But WTF was I smoking with the "playoffs" part? :X

It's a decent batting average...

1. Portis Finish the year as the #1 Fantasy RB2. Carr finishes ahead of Vick3a. Chris Perry out performs Rudi and finishes ahead of him3b. J. Porter finishes in top 10
1. If last week was a sign of things to come I might not end up that far off if not correct  2. Looking good so far.3. Rudi isn't setting the world on fire - just need Perry to get his shot4.

1. AJ Feeley wins and holds onto the Dolphins starting QB job and finishes the season as the 14th ranked fantasy QB (FBG scoring).2. Chris Redman starts at least 4 games for some NFL team this year. He performs well enough to create a QB controversy on that team for the '05 season.3. Domanick Davis, on his way to becoming the next Priest Holmes, finishes top 5 in RB scoring.
 Yuck!I still like Feeley better than Fiedler and someone (Bears? Bills?) should really give Chris Redman a call.

1. Carson Palmer turns out to be a total bust; Kitna starts at least 8 games.2. Terrell Owens finishes outside the top 10 WRs.3. Curtis Martin finishes in the top 15 RBs.
#1: Looking good.#2: Looking not so good. Although I still see TO dropping off from here.#3: Perhaps not an aggressive enough prediction, but clearly gonna happen.

1 - McGahee takes the starting RB job from Henry before the end of the 2004 season.2 - Holmes doesn't get more than 20 TDs this year3 - Jimmy Smith is a top 10 FF WR this year
1 - Still up in the air2 - Still up in the air3 - Not gonna happen

1.Curtis Martin, Warrick Dunn, and Tiki Barber will all put up huge surprise years and outperform Barlow, Henry, and Faulk.2.Andre Johnson will be a top 3 WR, while S Moss won't finish in the top 15.3.Jerry Rice will be traded to the Seahawks and Keenan McCardell will end up somewhere in California.
not bad ;)

1. With David Carr blossoming into a close to top tier starter, Andre Johnson will have a better fantasy year than Terrell Owens.
I like what I've done here.
2. After a dismal start, Joey Harrington will be Detroit's #2 QB by November. Mike McMahon's play making ability will prove to be a better compliment to their offensive attack and the 2005 off-season will be punctuated by "which team can revive Harrington's career?" threads...
I'm hanging by a thread on this one...but Harrington did have astinker last week. That said, he looks like he'll get the rest of the year.
3. The Stephen Davis/DeShaun Foster combo falls on tough times as a revamped O-Line in addition to an attempt to lessen Davis' workload backfires. The duo averages less than 4 YPC and totals less than 1400 yards.
This combo has fallen on tough times, moreso due to injuries, but their O-Line has been awful and with the exception of one 72 yard run against a pretty bad run D, neither RB has impressed.

3 - Jimmy Smith is a top 10 FF WR this year
3 - Not gonna happen
Care to elaborate? After facing his toughest CBs this year, he currently ranks in the top 20 in my main leagues. I see no reason why he can't improve, or even if he just remains consistent (no big games yet) and those on top falter (do we really expect Driver, Roy and Glenn to keep up their pace?) that he shouldn't end up in the top 10.At the least, this is still up in the air.

1 - Chris Brown lives up to the hype, becomes a top 10 RB this year, and is a first round pick next year. Not bad so far.....2 - Not one of the rookie WR class has a Boldin/Moss/Glenn year... i.e. 1k+ 9TD+.Roy was well on the way to making this look foolish, but who knows about Clayton. 3. Suggs has an injury Plagued year and goes out by mid year, Green takes over and helps a few teams win a SB as a swing/RB3 with 700 Yards and 6 TD in the second half of the season.Well so far Suggs missed the first part of the season but has come back - but Green steped it up this past week from behind the line. If Suggs gets hurt again in the next few weeks, Green may live up to this,Bonus - Miami picks first in the 2005 draft.Looking good on Miami.

Lots of fun...1. Justin McCareins ("J-Mac") will go for 1050 and 8 TDs.2. Quentin Griffin takes and holds the starting rb spot in Denver and goes for 1350 and 7 tds not to mention 60 receptions and 3 more tds.3. Joey Galloway plays in all 16 games and post 84-1200-10.edit: I just read the posts on this page and am surprised (or am I) that J-Mac is getting lots of love here!
wow -- was I wrong!!! no wonder I suck this year!

1.) Deuce McAllister will score more fantasy points than Priest Holmes. 2.) Tatum Bell will be Denver's #1 RB by the halfway point. 3.) Andre Johnson will outscore Santana Moss, Steve Smith, Derrick Mason, Joe Horn, Hines Ward, Darrell Jackson and Peerless Price. 4.) Minnesota will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
1. This is not looking like a very good prediction. Priest has been less productive than last year, but Deuce has been hindered by injuries. 2. This isn't such a bad prediction in hindsight. It was based on my opinion that Griffin was not starter material. I appear to have been right about that, but I predicted that Bell and not Droughns would be the one to ultimately win the job. 3. This is looking pretty good so far. 4. The Vikings look like a serious contender.

1) Brian Westbrook will finish the 2004 season as a Top 5 Fantasy Football RB.2) Andre Johnson will finish the 2004 seaspm as at Top 3 Fantasy Football WR.3) Michael Clayton will become the WR1 in Tampa Bay by week 5, and he'll finish as a top 20 Fantasy Football WR for the 2004 season.FIF :football:
i found these to be the best trio of predictions in the thread. don't know if this guy is still around, but he should post more.

Myself included, y'all suck. Yeah, there are a couple of dull gems here, but I'm amazed that not one person hit a home run; I'm not even sure if there are any doubles in the bunch.

My #1 was pretty good. He was ranked 9th or 10th in the preseason. The Wheatley prediction? ...... not so much.

1. Clinton Portis (#5 in FBG rankings) busts and finishes the year ranked below #14. 2. Brandon Lloyd is a bust and doesn't lead the 9ers in receptions, receiving yards or TDs. 3. Chris Perry is the Bengals #1 RB by the end of the season.
1. Portis is currently #10 and will miss this week and fall probably fall to 14 or so. I normally wouldn't take credit for him missing time like that, but part of my argument on Portis was that he is too small to take the pounding of the 25.5 touches per game that he has averaged.2. Lloyd is #3 in receptions, #3 in yards but #1 in TDs. So far he is at 43/565/6 and the #46 receiver. Since he was hyped as a top 25 WR I'll take credit for this one. 3. Struck out swinging hard.

Okay, here we go:

1) Lee Suggs gains 1000+ yds rushing, 300+ yds receiving, and double digit TDs for CLE (barring injury, of course)

2) Josh McCown is a top 10 FF QB in a 4/.05, 6/.1 league (barring injury, of course)

3) Justin Fargas is the leading rusher for OAK, gaining 900+ yds rushing, 200+ yds receiving, and 6+ TDs, over half of them 20+ yds (barring injury, of course)

4) Tatum Bell gains the starting RB job for DEN by game 5 and rushes for 1200+ yds, with 7+ TDs, 3 or more of which are 30+ yds (barring injury, of course)

5) Justin McCareins is a top 10 WR in a 6/.1 league (barring injury, of course)
LMFAO! I suck!Well, You have to swing for the fences if you're going to hit the longball. It would have been nice to get at least 1 right, though.

1. Randy McMichael catches 80 passes and close to 1000 yeards.2. Corey Dillon will run for 1500 yards and 10 TD's3. Denver falls into an abyss finsihing 6-10, realizing they made the biggest mistake ever by trading Portis.
#1. What a moron I was#2. Couldnt have been more on#3. Didnt see this from Denver this year.1/3...but yet I won two leagues....one would think I would be better at the time capsules.

1.Curtis Martin, Warrick Dunn, and Tiki Barber will all put up huge surprise years and outperform Barlow, Henry, and Faulk.

2.Andre Johnson will be a top 3 WR, while S Moss won't finish in the top 15.

3.Jerry Rice will be traded to the Seahawks and Keenan McCardell will end up somewhere in California.
I gotta hand it to jwvdcw. He nailed all three. And that last one! HOLY COW MAN! Damn nice call!

Look carefully at this thread...he fabricated the quote. Ever heard the expression hindsight is 20/20? :D By the way, here were his actual predictions:

1.Thomas Jones will be a top 5 RB

2.C Johnson will be the #1 WR

3.Cincy, NYJ, and Atlanta will all be surprise teams this year

1. Curtis Martin hits his 10th 1,000 yard season2. Eli Manning is starting for the Giants by week 103. Tom Brady is Super Bowl MVP for the third time in four years! :D :D :D
This is the only one I can see that could hit on all three predictions prefectly.
