Another thing about it is that imo it is a pretty good cherry on top of a **** sundae. Its not a stand alone movie like R1, so it can be forgotten with the rest. I was surprised how terrible the acting and cgi was in 3 as well. It is better because it is darker and we see the rise of Vader but my point above stands.

Gotcha, I agree for the most part on a and C, but I on the last watch I didn't think the acting was good enough to land the emotion for the Obi/Skywalker break and forgot how bad the cg is during the lava fight. Still the 2nd best from the 00s on, though.

Yeah, when they are on the platforms going through the lava. Part could have been my mood after watching the prequel in short order and I just wanted them to be done. It's pretty sad how excited I was that my daughter wants to watch female Ghostbusters next before another Star Wars movie. I am not looking forward to watching Ep. 9 and finishing this series.

Prediction: you will dislike it.

I am not sure that the movie is influenced by the 2nd one, but Aster brings up seeing that movie and Carrie all the time in interviews and how scenes stuck with him and haunted him in his teens. IMO it's his love of 70s horror and movies with family trauma like Bergman's that I see in Hereditary. I saw another list with things like Carrie, Don't Look Now, Rosemary's Baby, etc.. that I can see. BUT it is still with a harder edge and violence and is a difficult watch. It instantly became a favorite horror movie after I saw it, but it took me about a year to muster up the courage to watch it again.

Hereditary plays more like a family drama as they grieve, especially Toni Collette. It is a tough watch, but it is also a great rewatch seeing how everything was set up from the start and how all the stories and weirdness fits into place. I still don't love the last couple minutes, but was still great enough up until that point to become my favorite horror movie of this century so far. The direction is off the charts as well as things and people linger in the shadows and I love the cut from the beginning with the dollhouse into the real scene. This was the start of my Ari Aster love and the only hiccup so far for me was parts of Beau. Eddington is my favorite movie so far this year, so that will replace Beau on my list.

Yes he is.

I enjoy Rejects much more than Corpses, with the flip of the storytelling being from the psychopaths perspective rather than the victims... but the first should be seen before the second.

What did you hate about Midsommar? I found it much lighter and funnier than Hereditary after they get to Sweden. As Aster jokes, its just a break up movie.

Not as much as most people but I did like the first one - although I haven't watched it in years.

Part of my issue with the sequel was it wasn't really any different from the original.

I thought both X and Pearl were pretty dumb. I didn't even try MaXXXine.

I Saw The TV Glow, The Green Knight, and After Yang were just tepid.

I outright disliked Civil War.

I couldn't make it through Marcel the Shell.
