Like most sharks, we want to know everything going on in the world of fantasy sports / NFL. While FBG is a great website, they don't cover EVERYTHING. Which isnt a knock on them, because covering everything just isn't possible.

In a quest to know EVERYTHING, I thought of this great idea using RSS...

I don't how many of you are familiar with RSS feeds...

RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format.

They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader," "feed reader," or an "aggregator," (Use Googles Feed Reader - goggle.com/reader)

I've scoured the net for legitimate fantasy blogs and websites and have compiled 57 subscriptions. Now, I get updates round the clock of fantasy news and articles (I spend all day on this at work). I feel like I have everything needed (along with my FBG subscription) to make sound decisions for my fantasy team.

Here is my list of RSS links I've subscribed too. I suggest you do the same!

It's an up-n-coming way of using the web. Basically, instead of "surfing" dozens of sites, they package all of their content and send it to you in an rss feed. Here's a
on youtube that explains it (pretty annoying delivery - but it explains the concept really well)

generally, you are responsible for updating simply by clicking refresh or update or somesuch in your newsreader. Some newsreaders have a timer where you set it to update every so often.

Most aggregators should have a timer that refreshed every so often. The issue with things like the SP is that the content changes so rapidly that even the feeds aren't up to date. Even if you had an aggregator that refreshed every second, the content still wouldn't be current b/c the feed itself won't update that often ( depending on implementation ). IPB ( the SP's engine ) seems to go every 15 minutes or so.In general, RSS works much better for things like FBG blog where articles are only published at a relatively slow rate.

We haven't talked much about handling the feeds, so for anyone interested I tend to use my iGoogle page for frequently viewed feeds, and Google's reader for a once a day check in of some others. Anyone else got a good aggregator?
