The upper tier of LBs (1 Viewer)

Okay, maybe it's just me, but the LBs seem to go kinda like this:

Tier 1 - Patrick Willis, Jon Beason

Tier 2 - Barrett Ruud, DeMeco Ryans, Jonathan Vilma

Tier 3 - DJ Williams, Jerod Mayo, Kirk Morrison

Tier 1 - 100+ solos without having an "ideal" situation

Tier 2 - 90+ solos, 100+ upside

Tier 3 - 85-95 solos

now, do DJ Williams and Jerod Mayo have more upside than I'm giving them credit for? I ask because Ruud, Beason and Willis are off the table in one of my leagues, and I'm looking at grabbing my first LB in the draft (dynasty, standard FBG scoring)

I think your tiers are too small, particularly tier 3 for waht your projections are.

And I'm not sure how many tiers you're going to have, but it's looking like an awful lot of them, and having 20+ tiers really doesn't help you as much as having fewer tiers, and then making decisions within those tiers.

I think there are a more guys who fit into those tiers, and while I realize you're drafting for dynasty - you need to understand that things are fluid enough on the defensive side of the ball, that guys who are older studs start to populate tiers fairly early.

I was basically talking about "the top tier"

so tier 1, 2, 3, here are all basically the dudes who can break 100 solos

I guess I should state something more specifically. Are DJ Williams and Jerod Mayo in the same category as the others listed here? London Fletcher would obviously belong, seeing as how he has broken 90 every season in this century.

Also, is DeMeco Ryans ever going to regain anything CLOSE to his rookie numbers?

I think Willis is on a tier all his own.

I'd confidently put Vilma, Ryans, and Beason behind him with the following players in tier 3

Jerod Mayo

Barrett Ruud

Lofa Tatupu

Paul Posluszny

Curtis Lofton

London Fletcher

Kirk Morrison

DQwell Jackson

If Curry ends up being the WILL add him too.

Why all the love for Curtis Lofton? And where is Jerome Harrison, he was our #1 last year...

In a big play-heavy format Harrison's higher, how much? Wouldn't know, don't play in those leagues (I have no idea if FBG's is big play heavy or not). I don't trust guys that don't get enough solo's in the tackle-heavy formats I play so Harrison isn't up with these guys.I was big on Lofton coming out and believe he'll get the 3 down role this year, he's on the low end of this tier. I included him here because I believe his upside is up there and above guys on this tier and his floor is similar to those in the tier below.

First, Its James Harrison, don't know why I wrote Jerome????Second, he is a tackle monster plus a big play guy. Look at his stats the last 2 years2007.........83 solo, 25 assisted...........10 sacks2008.........77 solo, 38 assisted...........17 sacksYou are right though, depends alot on the scoring system. I just checked Willis's #s and his tackles are in the 100s, but he had very few big plays.

I'd consider Barrett Ruud tier 1 material along with Patrick Willis in tackle heavy leagues. MLBs tend to produce big numbers in Jim Bates' system (see DJ Williams and Zack Thomas under Bates) and Ruud has been about as consistent a producer from the MLB position as any the past few years. I think Tampa's offense will struggle (regardless of who starts at QB) and Ruud will have plenty of tackle opportunities.
