Things you use every day that never break (1 Viewer)

My alarm clock has been going strong for 15 years. I beat the hell out of it every morning and it's still working.

My Oral B tooth brush. I figure it'll quit taking a charge someday but going as strong as the day I bought it. Change the brush heads 4 times per year and I'm set.

Alarm clock for 17 years.

Used to have a microwave for about 12 years.

My parents used to have a few that probably lasted longer: basic calculator, toaster, 35 mm camera.

alarm clock and a regular tube tv i got nearly 20 years ago are the best examples i'd say.

that tube tv doesn't get "heavy" use, but definitely gets 45-60 min of TV time every day in the morning and before bed.

and for many years was my "regular" tv

:goodposting: We got one for our wedding. It is my kid's xbox TV now (20ish years).

My 1996 Oldsmobile Cierra SL. Actually see a lot of these one the street. My kid once commented that it's always a teenager or someone really old driving it once, was pretty funny.

Last summer I replaced the television we had in our bedroom. The old TV was purchased by me for $60 at a Pawn Shop when I was a freshman in college. It was VERY used then and looked terrible but it worked great. It finally started to crap out last summer. Based on how it looked when I bought it 17 years ago, I imagine it was close to 30 years old. Best $60 I ever spent.

coffee mugs - most of mine are from college, 95-99.

our nice silver platter, wedding gift

I intend to keep my Highlander until my oldest son turns 16, then it will be his to use, with a lot of rules.

Wow, good call on alarm clocks... I hadn't thought of it, but mine is at least 25 years old.

My Dad had a comb that he brought over with him when he immigrated from Thailand in 1969. Kept it in his pocket and used it every day. Little blue comb. One time he lost it at the beach...we walked the beach for 2 hours and found it 1/4 mile down washed up on the shore. Another time it fell out in the parking lot at a minor league baseball game...we went back 3 days later and it was still there. 3 years ago, we revisited his family in Thailand. While we were in Phuket, we chartered a boat to take us around the islands. He set his comb on the deck of the boat while he was swimming. He forgot to get the comb. Gone after 40 years. At least it was left in Thailand where it came from.

Been using the same alarm clock for 25-30 years, myself. The clock numbers are a little dim at times, but still working just fine other than that.

Cool story.

I still have a pair of scissors that I got as a kid one year for school supplies. It is not a little safety scissors, they are regular sharp, but short scissors. They are sitting in our junk drawer in the kitchen and I use them regularly. I've never sharpened them, but they still ge the job done.

Crazy. When I was maybe 13 or 14 we got alarm clocks for Christmas -- we didn't have much money plus I guess it was kind of a "grown up" thing to now have your own alarm clock. I must have used that thing for 20 years before putting it in a box out in the garage. Finally shipped it off to Goodwill last year and it was still going strong after 25 years.

Alarm clocks are like women. It's the ones that DON'T get beat that stop working.

I'll add my flannel shirts. Have one from HS I still break out on a cold day that is about 20+ years old.

Microwave from Sears (not sure the brand) since 1988. We just moved last month, the movers couldn't believe 1) how heavy it is, 2) it was older than most of the crew.

Bose 901s Seris VI since 1985. I've gone through a few amps and subwoofers but they're impossible to blow out.
