Think I've found my redraft strategy (1 Viewer)

Obviously I would adapt given the draft, league scoring, etc, but my prep this year has essentially just been reading here and doing mocks on another site. Frankly, projections bore the crap out of me so this year I'm just going to try and study trends. What I'm seeing is that going RB-WR-WR-RB is working out really well this year. Just tried that in a 12-teamer and here's what I ended up with.

QB: Favre (Green)

RB: FWP (DWill)

RB: Caddy (Foster)

WR: Harrison (M. Jones)

WR: Walker (E. Kennison)

WR: Clayton (BAL) (Rice)

TE: Winslow (Watston)

K None

DST: Chicago

Basically I think there are a lot of potentially solid to good RB2s that are going to be available in round 4 (Lynch, Deuce, Caddy, Barber), and if you're willing to take another in round 5 (DWill, JJones, Lewis) then you can pretty much shore up your rb situation in round 4-5 and then get at least one handcuff in rounds 8-11 to cya.

Probably pretty basic for most here but I'd like to hear others thoughts who might have already been in a redraft or two and have tried this out.

In competitive 12 team leagues there will be very few RB's available in round 5. D-Will & Lewis will be gone by then. J.Jones will be there....but I would rather take a sure fire RB in round 3 and a very solid can't miss WR in round 5 than get a top tier WR and gamble at RB in the 5th. Your dream team would be less than desirable IMO.

I suspect that this will be a viable strategy. In a league that I am drafting in currently, here were the backs that went in rounds 4-10 . . .

4.01 Peterson, Adrian MIN

4.03 Jacobs, Brandon NYG

4.09 Williams, DeAngelo CAR

4.10 Green, Ahman HOU

4.11 Lynch, Marshawn BUF

4.12 Barber, Marion DAL

5.11 Jones, Julius DAL

6.04 Taylor, Fred JAC

6.07 67. Jones, Kevin DET

6.10 70. Norwood, Jerious ATL

7.01 73. Dunn, Warrick ATL

7.03 75. Jordan, Lamont OAK

8.02 86. Turner, Michael SDC

8.04 88. Bell, Mike DEN

8.05 89. Morency, Vernand GB

8.06 90. Taylor, Chester MIN

8.07 91. Betts, Ladell WAS

8.11 95. Brandon Jackson GB

9.02 98. Bell, Tatum DET

9.03 99. Bone Foster, De'shaun CAR

9.07 103 White, LenDale TEN

9.12 108 Droughns, Reuben NYG

10.02 110. Brown, Chris TEN

It's a viable strategy, but if you went RB,RB, WR,WR you could have started with:

1) FWP

2) Portis

3) Roy Williams/Boldin/Walker

4) Colston/Driver/Evans

Good strategy for a ten teamer. I used it last year to win my main league. It's a competetive league but due to a start 3 wr requirement, no team ever takes 3 rbs in the first four rounds. If I am comfortable with rb 19 or 20 as a starter I usually go rb wr wr rb wr rb rb. In a 12+ league it is tough to find quality rbs late so this strategy can have serious drawbacks.

I like that strategy if you're drafting towards the bottom (8-12) and thus grabbing your RB2 at the beginning of the 4th rather than the end, but towards the middle I like RB-WR-RB-WR

Wow. If things fall like that in my draft I may end up 10 RB's.BTW, was that in a WR/RB flex league? Or a straight 2 RB, 2 WR league?
