Complaining in general is popular. We’re officially hitting “get off my lawn” age around here, and people feel safer screaming online than at their neighbors.  People like you, I think most of them hope you’ll laugh with them and tell them you don’t hate them. Like the fun dad they chose their mom over in the divorce. 

bolded times a thousand....the "then this board isn't for you" stuff is just out of bounds and so weird....it gets so old hearing that same lame ultimatum.....business must be good I guess even though the traffic around here seems wayyyyyy less then it used to be....I'm all about making positive changes that are in line with what is changing in society....but this is a message board and we are all big boys and girls.....but as I was reminded it is "their" message board, so its their lawn and their sandbox that the playground police need to make sure we are playing nice in....

there seems to be trouble differentiating between personal attacks and just calling someone out and discussing things......if we are able to pat each other on the back and give compliments for making great calls on draft picks or something, we should also be able to call people out and discuss why they are wrong without it being "not excellent"....

Lots of 24 hr timeouts and one week suspensions mentioned. Any of you, or anyone you know of, get a 3 month suspension ... or am I the big winner?

Curious as to what other offenses justified such punishment.

The suspensions here are thrown out like Drew Carey throwing out points on Who's Line is it Anyway.  It's completely random.  

Edit: All four of my bannings have been for innaproriate language and are for very similar offenses.  They range from 2 days to 30 days.  In random order too.  So its not like there's a system of each subsequent suspension being longer.  It seems to be based on the mod's mood at the time.

I got three months late last year. First time I've ever been banned at any message board in my life.  Have always tried to be respectful, and I made a joke that I thought wasn't bad but it obviously crossed a line.

Tried to apologize through the email channels here but got no response. But no big deal - it is what it is and I served my time.

I guarantee you this is the answer Joe is grappling with.  Whether or not to simply delete it.

Delete the Politics forum and all political and religious talk and this entire forum would get 100 times better, but I suspect that Joe and the others know how much traffic there is there (seems like there are a dozen people who live in that subforum all day every day) and they like the heavy traffic, otherwise why keep it?  That subforum is an embarrassment to the forum.
