No, I didn’t forget the Louis CK controversy.
I’m just capable of separating a controversy surrounding a person vs. that person’s work. If there was a more famous current comedian who tells intentionally dark and shocking jokes to illicit a “I can’t believe he just said that” reaction I would have chosen that comedian; but, alas, Anthony Jeselnik is not as famous as Louis CK.
If the topic is “most famous signing & dancing pop star of the 80s” do you pretend Michael Jackson doesn’t exist because of his controversy?

No, but if someone gets thrown out of a YMCA locker room and says “I mean, come on, this is like banning Michael Jackson!” I will laugh uncontrollably.

I think there's a rule over there that you are not allowed to make generalizing statements about any political group. Posting over there is like wlking in a minefield. Never know what words, topics, or even smilies are on the blacklist.

Understood. Looking at the notes on the context there, moderators had asked repeatedly in that thread for people to drop the "____________ supporters are evil / awful / unamerican" stuff and then my guess is your post soon after with the "they have no souls and are a blight" was enough for the moderator to have had enough.
You're 100% right, though. It's a complete losing proposition with moderation. We try our best to get it right but the overwhelming take-away is 6 months later we're still in the wrong and we're ridiculous.

Keep in mind too that Joe has asked people several times to report things in that forum so you probably had every single conservative poster report you for that comment. You have to assume every post you make in the PSF ends up under a mod's microscope. My advice: Don't post there.

I know this isn't the purpose of this thread, but I think I've got you all beat. The one and only time I was ever banned/warned (1 week) was for using the word h***y (which I've seen used many times both before and since).

I also admit to not having the time to read every post in every topic and i may have dropped in to that thread without realizing the warnings had been given. I imagine it's the same for moderators who don't have the time or energy to read every post to capture context. Given those limitations i would hope that a light touch would be given around moderation. I'm not a fan at all of "reporting" somebody. We are all adults here and should be a little more thick skinned. There are trolls and jerks on the internet. Always have been, always will be. I try not to let them bother me too much. I agree that personal attacks should be a no go here. They lend nothing to a good discussion. I do feel that public figures are fair game for criticism (and praise too i guess) though. I appreciate the political forum. I know many here do not. It was probably a good idea to separate it. Anyways, thanks for responding. Wrong word. Its the word you would use to describe someone who is good at fixing things around the house. I used it in another context though (again, Ive seen it used this way many, many times before and since) and certainly never thought of it as a "bad word".

Complaining in general is popular. We’re officially hitting “get off my lawn” age around here, and people feel safer screaming online than at their neighbors. People like you, I think most of them hope you’ll laugh with them and tell them you don’t hate them. Like the fun dad they chose their mom over in the divorce.

I think you're correct about the first sentence but completely off with the rest. The younger generation loves to complain. I think it's a by product of growing up on the internet and having social media. You have to complain about everything now. It used to be old people complaining about lawns being trampled. But the younger generation complaining about every single thing going on in their lives has drowned out the elderly and their grass problems.

We are back to complaining about the new board and how the old board was better. The old board was more fun and interesting but it's gone. This is the new PC era and it's tough to get used after all the years of talking freely. Eventually, the new board will feel normal.

You mean this board filled with old, geezers? Yes. We complain. I said old people complain. But it's not just a old person thing. Click on any other site outside of this site and you'll see complaining. It's an epidemic. It's so bad, I almost want to complain about it to someone. But, of course, who am I going to complain to? Because no one will listen. Which is just great. Especially since internet access costs so much and I can barely afford a phone to post on social media that no one will listen to me. Meanwhile, no one cares about the environment. People still using plastic straws as literally tens of turtles die possibly because of them.

There are only about 20-25 regulars in the PSF anyway. The same 5-6 are in every thread so every thread goes into the toilet very fast.

I bought some edge shave gel and Shick razors at CVS yesterday and refused having the cashier put it in a plastic bag. Feeling pretty good about myself I get in the car and my blades are sealed in a plastic cover and the inserted into a hard plastic holder. One step forward, two steps back.
