And the point being made that Slaton is far more talented a player than Brown and had taken steps this offseason by adding bulk in an attempt to increase his power and improve in short yardages situations, yet his HC continues to ignore him once they get at the goal line doesn't mean a thing, I guess?.......Regardless of past failures, I still hold strong to the belief that you give your best guys opportunities to score, thus helping your team out towards winning some games. I recall for a couple of seasons where the Eagles were towards the bottom in converting short yardage and goal line situations, but did they more often than not kept Westbrook in their and he received his fair share of attempts. Why? Because Andy Reid knows the value of keeping your best playmakers on the field most of the time, including short yardage. It's up to the coaches to call the right plays and put their players in positions to succeed. As Kubiak should know his o-line is soft, so then open up the playbook down at the goal line and stop trying to force Boo-Boo Brown up the gut behind such a putrid o-line. Run off-tackle, run misdirection (those misdirected little flip tosses to the RB work quite well when setup well), bootlegs, hell, run a power sweep sometime, because obviously the Texans o-line can't simply beat teams straight on with power blocking. And since this is the case, then yes, I believe that Slaton should be the one getting the rock then as I see him in the mold of a Westbrook. Do you know how many times that Westbrook has scored on those little shovel passes down inside the 10 yard line? A lot! Slaton produced over 15 points in PPR leagues, so this is far from a simple vent thread. It's a reality check thread. Kubiak is a stubborn fool who is failing to make proper adjustments and not helping his team much in these tight games. He also doesn't seem to know how to inspire/motivate players while he has very few options he should be looking to build up a guy like Slaton. Instead, he makes public comments trying to place blame on a young player when he should be looking directly in the mirror at what he has failed to do as a coach - develop a good o-line and call better plays based on his team's strengths, i.e., adjust). This equates to a lack of leadership. How come he hasn't been able to develop Jacoby Jones? Isn't Kubiak supposedly an offensive wizard? Jones is another talented playmaker who could be helping this team more if properly developed and utilized. I just can't imagine most coaches relying on Chris Brown to try to win you games when you see it isn't working. Did he even give Slaton an attempt at the goal line on either of their goal line situations?
