This is the year... (1 Viewer)

Every year in my main redraft (nonppr) league someone is offering up either their 2nd and 3rd, 2nd and 4th, or 3rd and 4th round picks in exchange for someone else's first rounder. No one in the top couple of picks ever gives up their #1, but in about half of the last six years of our draft someone has moved out of the bottom third of the first round for the later picks. I hadn't ever done it myself, but was thinking that if I pull slot 6-12 that I'd entertain offers this year, even if it's for just a 3rd and 4th. I really don't see that big of a difference between SJax/Mendenhall/Deangelo and guys like Benson/Charles/Pierre Thomas/Stewart. If I went WR with my #1, I similarly don't see a huge difference between Randy Moss/Fitz and Sidney Rice/Jennings. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I am in PPR (keeper) leagues, so WRs would be the reason why I probably wouldn't. I see a big difference potentially between Moss/Fitz and Rice/Jennings although I am high on Jennings for some gut reason. On the RBs, I kind of agree that after the studs, there are a lot of question marks making the potential risk/reward not enough that I would take a risk on a RB there. I actually like drafted in the botton half with keeper leagues because often their is a big, big drop off between the beginning of the second round and the end of it.

In a IDP keeper league(1qb/2rb/2wr/rbwr/te/2lb/2db/dl), I was picking seventh and seeing how the next 3 BPA available would be S-Jax, a top QB, or Reggie Wayne, I traded my 1.07 for a 2.12,3.1,4.12,5.1 and decided to play the super depth card this season. Leaving me with picks 2.6,2.12,3.1,3.7. Time will tell if this is a good decision however I decided when I made that trade that I would do my best to have the best flex and the best TE and a top-5 QB. Also this gives me space to land top IDP players (Patrick Willis and Trent Cole I hope).

Here was a trade I made in my recent Dynasty startup this season, after pulling pick 1.9 (10-team league):

* Columbus Destroyers gave up Year 2010 Draft Pick 1.09;Year 2010 Draft Pick 4.02;Year 2010 Draft Pick 6.02

* Human Beings gave up Year 2010 Draft Pick 2.06;Year 2010 Draft Pick 3.05;Year 2010 Draft Pick 5.05

All in all, this was a great trade for me - Gore actually lasted all the way to my 2.2 pick, and he was the player I was going to take at 1.9 anyway. Then at 2.6 I took Romo (option to start 3 QBs in league, so I see him as a top-5 pick), and at 3.5 I took Cutler for the same reason.

I just felt like I made up so much ground by having 2 picks in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th rounds.

I was just thinking of starting a post about "Who do you draft in first round slots 7-12?"

I can't for the life of me distinguish between anyone after the big 4 RB's, Gore & Andre Johnson.

SJax? Aaron Rogers? Fitz? Moss? DeAngelo? All of these guys have question marks (except Rogers, but I can't stomach drafting a QB before pick 11).

If I'm in spot 7-9 and someone offers me a 2nd & 4th or 5th than I'd take it.

Michael Turner - a lock for about 1500 rushing yards and 15 TDs. big `comeback` year for him. will easily carry the ball 300+ times..I know Sjax played with lousy Qb's last season, but with Bradford, he's likely to see even MORE 8-man fronts.

he should be on your 'do not draft' list.

Rogers is a safe bet as well...
