THIS SUMMER! (1 Viewer)

I saw him at the riverbank. He was breaking bread and giving thanks.

With crosses made of pipes and planks. Leaned up against the nitrous tanks.

He said take a hit, hold your breath, and I'll dunk your head.

Then when you wake up again. you'll be high as hell and born again.

Where you with a little guy, who looked kinda like this?
No, but I think I saw that guy. Were the young guy in the front with glasses, long hair and a bandana who kept trying to clap to the beat during The Loved Ones, but failed miserably each time?
These guys were older and off to the right (near the bar closest to the stage). Little guy had some sweet dance moves that were making me gay for him.

When there weren’t any parties

she’d park by the quarry

walk into the woods

until she came to a clearing

where townies would gather

and drink until blackout

smoke cigs till they’re sick

pack bowls and then pass out.

Sniffing on crystal in cute little cars, getting nailed against dumpsters, behind townie bars.

on 5th horse in the sixth race

I think his name was chocolate chips

The boys are getting younger

And the bands are getting louder

And the new girls are coming up

Like some white unopened flowers

She's pretty sure that that's where their power is

 More Europe Tour Cancellations announced yesterday - Please be Okay for the tour with the DBT's :censored:

Dancing days, houses of the holy

Hot-shot in the city in the middle of the prairie

Floating with the boys, with all her charms

At first the laugh, then the eyes

Then the touch-em-on-the-arm's

And the drinks, they'd never seem to cost money

And Saturday night was a runway

That extended into Sunday

...And sometimes Monday

It's been stuck in my head all day long:

she goes low on the seats when she gets high in her car.

she looks shallow but shes neck deep in the steamy dreams of the guys along the harbor bars.

she's pulling out her shirttails and jacking up her socks.

stern and stoned and confident, coming up towards the jukebox.

born into the only songs that everybody finally sings along.

b-1 is for the good girls. it's only the good die young.

c-9 is for the making eyes. it's paradise by the dashboard light.

d4 is for the lovers.

b12 is for the speeders.

and the hard drugs are for the bartenders and the kitchen workers and the bartender's friends.

and they're playing it again.

ellen foley gives us hope.

certain songs they get scratched into our souls.

FYI

The Hold Steady announce an April 7 release date for A Positive Rage, a double disc package featuring a documentary on DVD and their first-ever live album. The set will be released on April 6 on Rough Trade Records in the UK and Europe.A Positive Rage captures the excitement and high spirits of both the band and their fans in the days surrounding the release of their third full-length, Boys ands Girls in America, (Vagrant) and ensuing world tour in 2006.The 53-minute documentary begins with The Hold Steady’s first ever London performances with never-before-seen live footage, back stage interviews with the band members, fan commentary and the original, raw audio. Cameras follow the band as they return to the US for a 24-date tour that culminates on screen with an especially poignant performance at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The live album was recorded on October 31, 2007 and includes seventeen songs that Craig Finn, Tad Kubler, Galen Polivka, Franz Nicolay, and Bobby Drake performed on the second of their two-night sold-out stand at the Metro in Chicago. The enhanced album will also feature five bonus studio tracks: “Ask Her For Adderall,” “Cheyenne Sunrise,” “Two Handed Handshake,” and the previously unreleased tracks “Spectres” and “40 Bucks.”The booklet features personal photos and the band’s memories of the tour, including this excerpt from Craig Finn… “It ended up being a fantastic suburban blow out with band and audience on the floor, Frisbee and tailgating in the adjoining parking lot, and everyone singing along to every song…. It reminded me of the hardcore shows I loved as a kid, everyone sweating and screaming together in a rented hall. And drinking in the parking lot, of course. The next night worlds converged…. “

Me and my friends were like...

double whiskey, coke, no ice

We drink along in double time

might drink too much, but we feel fine

This one has been stuck in there for a while.

Well hold steady Ybor City

You're up to your neck in sweat and wet confetti

If you want to get a little bit light-in-the-heady

It's gonna have to get a little bit heavy

We're jamming jetskis into the jetty now

With some guy who looks like Rocco Siffredi

And I've heard he's been dead once already

I'm there. Should I wear my Finless shirt for easy identification?

Most nights are crystal clear

But tonight it’s like we're stuck at the gas station

On the toll road

Sick lyrics

We are the theatre, they are the people—dressed up to be seated, lookin’ upwards and dreamin’. We’re the projectors. We’re hosting the screening. We’re dust in the spotlights…we’re just kinda floating.

C]THE WILDWOOD FLOWER GREW [Am]WILD ON THE FARM AND WE [G]NEVER KNOWED WHAT

IT WAS [G]CALLED, SOME SAID IT WAS FLOWER, [Am]SOME SAID IT WAS A WEED, [G]I

DIDN'T GIVE IT MUCH [C]THOUGHT.

[C]ONE DAY I WAS OUT THERE [C7]TALKING TO MY BROTHER, AND I [F]REACHED DOWN

FOR A WEED TO CHEW [C]ON, AND THINGS GOT FUZZY AND [Am]THINGS GOT BLURRY,

AND [G]THEN EVERYTHING WAS [C]GONE, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT [Am]HAPPENED, BUT

I KNEW IT BEAT THE [G]HELL OUT OF SNIFFIN' [C]BURLAP.

[C]I CAME TO AND MY [Am]BROTHER WAS THERE AND HE SAID BOY [G]WHAT'S WRONG

WITH YOUR [C]EYES, I SAID I DON'T KNOW I WAS [Am]CHEWING ON A WEED, HE SAID

[G]LET ME GIVE IT A [C]TRY

[C]WE SPENT THE REST OF THAT DAY AND [C7]MOST OF THAT NIGHT TRYING TO

[F]FIND MY BROTHER [C]BILL, CAUGHT UP WITH HIM ABOUT [Am]SIX O'CLOCK THE

NEXT MORNING, [G]NAKED SITTING ON THE [C]WINDMILL, SAID HE FLEW UP THERE,

[Am]I HAD TO CLIMB UP AND GET HIM DOWN, [G]HE WAS ABOUT HALF [C]CRAZY.

[C]THE VERY NEXT DAY WE PICKED A [Am]BUNCH OF THEM WEEDS AND [G]PUT EM IN

THE [C]SUN TO DRY, THEN WE MASHED 'EM UP AND [Am]CLEANED 'EM UP, AND PUT 'EM

IN A CORNCOB [C]PIPE.

[C]SMOKING THEN WILDWOOD [C7]FLOWERS GOT TO BE A HABIT AND [F]WE NEVER SEEN

NO [C]HARM, WE THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF [Am]HANDY, TAKE A [G]TRIP AND NEVER

LEAVE THE [C]FARM, A BIG OLD PUFF OF THAT WILDWOOD WEED, [Am]NEXT THING YOU

KNOW YOU'RE WANDERIN [G]AROUND BEHIND THE LITTLE [C]ANIMALS

[C]ALL GOOD THINGS GOT TO [Am]COME TO AN END, IT'S THE [G]SAME WITH OUR

WILDWOOD [C]WEEDS, ONE DAY THIS FELLER FROM [Am]WASHINGTON CAME BY AND

[G]SPIED EM, AND TURNED WHITE AS A [C]SHEET.

[C]WELL THEY DUG AND BURNED AND THEY [C7]BURNED AND DUG AND THEY KILLED ALL

OF [F]OUR CUTE LITTLE [C]WEEDS, THEN THEY DROVE AWAY, [Am]WE JUST SMILED AND

WAVED, [G]SITTIN THERE ON THAT SACK OF [C]SEEDS.

[G]Y'ALL COME HACK NOW YA [C]HEAR!
