This year's Fantasy Football Entry Fees % of monthly household income

Just the one-time entry fees (don't include fees incurred during the year, FF advice, mags etc.).

Who the hell puts 20% of their annual salary on the line in fantasy football? Even if we're talking high dollar leagues ($1000 buyin) I can't see that being more than 2% of any grown adult's salary....

% of monthly incomee.g. say someone making 100k a year, they play a few different leagues where all the entry fees total about 1,600.That's about 20% of their monthly income.annual income (($100,000.00 /12)*20%) = $1,666.67

I voted in the 5-10% area, but it's BARELY 5%.

$250 X 20 = $5000

I suspect a lot of those votes in the 1-4% area voted wrong.

I did after taxes $$$ for monthly, so I jumped into the 5-10%...you asked why, so here it is...

My son's best friend (they are three) and his family all got together with us a couple of weeks ago at the beach. We started talking about hobbies and I was like, "do you like FF"? He mentioned he is in a couple of leagues and said he was thinking of putting another one together. Well i go to the organizational meeting last night (I was late), and after going through the rules, I ask if we are doing an entry fee. Now I do not know why I did not ask before (probably because he was so casual about it), but I find out the entry fee is $225...about what i spend total on my other three leagues.

Everyone already agreed to this, so I was like, "well, lesson learned". The worst part is that the scoring is very different than what I am used to, so I will be lucky to make the playoffs. Wife is on maternity leave, so this is the last thing I needed...lol.

good to see no one over 4%
I have to agree... It looks like a few folks voted for the 5% category, but fortunately the vast majority are south of that. My totals are down from last year. I was in 8 $ leagues last year, and it was just too much to keep up with. For me carrying that many teams really started to become no fun. My max this year is 3 to 4 leagues.

I'm in my first money league ever this year.

The entry fee is $10.

Went with the 1-4% because I am actually paying, but it is really closer to 0% than 1%.

:bag: yep.Monthly =/= yearly. Oops.
Didn't take long to get a first confession! :) Seriously, 5% of your monthly income is probably a lot lower figure then most realize before taking a calculator out. It wouldn't surprise me if a third of those who voted 1-4% are really hovering in the 5-7% area.

Just using my take home after Taxes, Health/dental/vision, 401k, child care flex plan, ect...

I'm hitting the 11-14% window for one month. Considering this "investment" is spread over a 4 month period, it really isn't that much month to month.

I've also won more than I have lost over the years so

I earn about $1600 a month after taxes. I am in leagues totaling $185. So, about 11-12% of a monthly income. Since football season lasts about 5 months, it's closer to 2.2-2.4% of my total income earned during football season.

I imagine that after graduation and earning 4-5x my current income after taxes to start, that my percentage spent on fantasy football would likely drop even if I increase my league dues.

I'm usually in the 5-10% area but I'm cutting back this year due to time issues. My daughter was born early September last year and I couldn't keep up with all of my leagues. So far I'm around 1% this year (still early though)

I suspect your data may be misleading because you hace a 0% (free league category) and then jump to 1%. What happens between 0 and 1%? I am voting 0% but the true answer is 0.07% as I don't play in just free leagues but the leagues I do play in have entry fees of $35 or less so it is very much recreational.

 I think most people don't look at their one-time fee against what they make a month (which is the purpose of the poll). I think doing so puts things into a different perspective.

$25 total for 3 leagues this year. One cheapie no prize, just MFL fees. In one my winnings from last year weren't enough to cover full entry fee, and in the other I'm good for this year, and part of next already.

It's under 1% of my income - Ii made that from 1 mystery shop I did one the side.

I would suggest annualizing both numbers (income and FF costs). Having one monthly and the other annual is somewhat misleading and confusing.

The goal is to see how much "disposable income" is being used on FF in a month and if anyone is cutting back this season. I'm also comparing it to monthly income because most people pay all of their FF fees upfront in one month as oppose to year-round payments.
