Thomas Clayton (1 Viewer)

Dr. Awesome

Peyton Hillis is having a hard time getting healthy. Hardesty is hurt. Only two guys left. Clayton may not be anything special but it wouldn't be the first time some no name running back gained fantasy relevance after injuries decimated those in front of him.

Clayton is not only going to be active this week but he's going to be backing up a guy who helped get the Browns qb killed last week. It's being reported Clayton is going to get work this week.

Yes, the o-line sucks. And yes, the schedule gets brutal. But as Hardesty has already shown us, a guy can suck and still be worth starting if he gets enough touches.

For those in deep leagues with no other options, let's reluctantly stumble aboard the Thomas Clayton express!

I picked him up along with Buy One Get One. I don't expect much from either, but alas, my team is that bad.

The way I see it, Hillis wants the big contract and the Browns obviously don't want to give it to him. If either of these guys can show something, they might let Hillis walk. Basically, these guys are going to get the opportunity and opportunity is huge in the NFL and FFB. It's a long shot that either of these guys will become the next Kurt Warner, Priest Holmes or Arian Foster, but then again, it was a long shot that those guys became those guys...

Picked him up this morning as well - might as well stash him to see what happens today, and can always dump him during the week.

Bottom line is he's no less proven than Ogbonnaya, so the team could just ride the hot hand.

 My thinking as well..hoping the kid can prove something.

Granted I barely follow college ball outside of the Sooners, but this guy has never seemed special to me just a guy that somehow finds opportunity. By that I mean wasn't he on the Pats bench and Browns bench last year. No I don't mean sideline, his butt was sitting down.

What's he have 10? 5? career carries?

Really...what were his college stats? I really don't think this guy is very good and swear there's some decent proof of it out there.

Bri - I agree he's not very good. But neither is the lone healthy guy in front of him. I'd ignore him in most leagues. But deep leagues? Anyone getting work is worth a look.

Good news - he got 5 carries just days after signing with the team.

Bad news - he got 10 yards on those 5 carries.

At this point what do the Browns do? Is there a veteran they can bring in that can at least protect the passer? Is Portis staying in shape? Who's out there?

I remember reading the other day that Shurmur indicated that Clayton will get more carries, but that the O-man is still the feature back.

In any event, with Hillis, Hardesty and the O-man not having much success on the ground, I don't give much hope that Clayton would either.

I read that they are going to givewr cribbs a few carries. probably wildcat, but it will be interesting to see what they do with him considering that clayton and silent g did squat last week.
