Thomas Jones: "We'll give him the ball" (1 Viewer)

Thomas Jones is going to get the lion's share of the carries now and will put up solid RB3 numbers. The Chiefs will get back to being mediocre instead of absolutely horrible in the next couple of games. McCluster is just a gadget player and the Chiefs seem intent on limiting his touches. They still play in a relatively terrible division. He had 1,000 yards last year in a major timeshare.

always comical to hear these types of quotes . . .why broadcast their ACTUAL gameplan so teams can get a read on them?? Just say something that SOUNDS reasonable . . .

Lol incoming Mccluster owner fanaticism. 30% chance of Charles owner angst as well.

"3 ypc avg!" will echo throughout this thread.

Looks like another 1k yard season for TJones.

This offense was a train wreck before Charlie Weis. This offense is a train wreck without Charlie Weis.

Give TJ the ball all you want. I love the guy. But the ride ain't moving. Maybe 4 years ago TJ could carry for a while. But the tread is off the tire at this point. I feel bad for him. He isnt going to last much longer than Charles.

Interesting use of selective quotation.
From an article entitled "

Chiefs buzz: KC to do its running by committee" and that leads with a sentence indicating that they will split the workload between 3 or 4 backs, you instead prune the last quote and ignore the rest? Interesting... especially from a guy named "devil in the detail"

:lmao:

Managing runners

With Jamaal Charles out of the lineup, the Chiefs will split the running back work in Sunday's game against the Chargers between Dexter McCluster, Thomas Jones and perhaps Le'Ron McClain and even little-used Jackie Battle.

The amount of plays for each player might revolve around McCluster and how much work he can get. McCluster has more big-play ability than any of the others. But he's only 170 pounds, and the Chiefs are sensitive to wearing him out so early in the season.

"We have a set number of plays, and I think the type of plays he's running has something to do with it also," offensive coordinator Bill Muir said. "We kind of have a number in our mind."

That goes out the window if the Chiefs are somehow able to keep Sunday's game close.

"We'll do whatever we've got to do to win the game," Muir said.

There are no such limitations on Jones, who is bigger than McCluster but 33 years old.

"Wherever he's been, he's loved to carry the ball," Muir said. "We understand his age. No, we don't have a plan. We'll (give him the ball) until his tongue is hanging out."

The quote is inaccurate and taken out of context.

The OC didn't say we're GOING to give him the ball until his tongue hangs out. When asked about a concern of Jones age he said, "We understand his age. No, we don’t have a plan. We’ll (give him the ball) until his tongue is hanging out.”

They are not saying the gameplan is to give the ball to Jones until his tongue hangs out but rather they have no plan to limit his carries based on his age. Big difference.

What happened to this place?

Not that I cared (see previous post regarding offensive scheme). But this is just some guy planting BS to mislead some of his mates in his league.

Can I still mute people in this forum? Dont want to forget who has no credibility.
