Thomas Jones (1 Viewer)

If Thomas Jones manages 237 rushing yards or more in the Jets' remaining games (entirely possible), and fails to score a rushing TD (again entirely possible, though I would think he will have this week's Miami game bolded in red ink in his diary)...

...then he will have 1,000 rushing yards and no TDs.

I had a quick look through a (relatively old) record book and couldn't find an instance of this happening before, nor of a 1000-yard receiving season without a TD.

Can any of the stats aficionados confrim or refute this?

As an aside, the three closest I could find to achieving this "feat" in the last ten years were Marcel Shipp, Michael Pittman and Garrison Hearst. Can anyone find the common thread between these four and their allergy to the end zone?

They all played for the Cardinals...must be something in the sand.

Um...so did Thomas Jones.:spooky:

Curtis Martin almost achieved the feat back in 2003 with only 2 total TDs. And I think the first one wasn't until well into the second half of the season.

As pointed out by an earlier poster...Apparently the suckage of Arizona sticks on you like white on rice. :bag:

The funny thing is that I know some Bears fans that were wishing they would've kept Jones.
I think most said the same before the season started. While the wheels fell off for the most part in Chicago this year, given the relative offensive lines, he'd still probably be having a better year in Chicago than he's had with the Jets (and better than Benson).

I wouldn't give lack of TDs by Jones on the Jets this year much consideration at all when comparing Benson to Jones and which would have been better for Chicago to have.

I thought Tommy Vardell had 1000 yards and no touchdowns one year............oh wait, he had a thousand touchdowns and no yards :snivelly97-98barryowner:

It's not their fault, a misprint in the Cardinals training manual states that the football field is 90 yards long.

Don't forget Kayshawn's 1200 yard season with only one TD in 2001.
