Thoughts on Parker if he plays? (1 Viewer)

In a bit of a tight spot due to BYE week blues, if Parker doesn't start I have to drop someone and pick up a WW which will likely be Goodwin or Lockett (best available).

What are your thoughts if Parker plays tonight? Do you think they will ease him in or limit him?  I can't find much information other than he had a limited practice.

Any input is appreciated.

If he plays I'm starting him due to a complete lack of options. But not expecting more than a few short receptions.

In my personal opinion it would be stupid to play him tonight and limit him. They have an additional amount of time before Week 9 so if he can't play his usual game then sit him and use the extra time to ensure he can in Week 9.

Matchup isn't great on paper but if he does play he's always a big-play threat and a key part of the passing game. If there were no injury issues I'd project something along the lines of 6-60 with a 50% chance to score given the matchup. With absolutely no way of knowing how healthy he is or what Gase plans to do he makes for a real risky start tonight if he plays, but one with clear upside given his talent.

If he is declared ready to go I would worry less about how he will do due to the injury and more about how the offense might look with Matt Moore starting. Really though, is Moore that much of a downgrade from Cutler? I think he will put up mediocre numbers.

I hope he sits. I won't play him and doubt his ankle is anywhere close to 100%. This is a guy who seemingly can't stay healthy so I don't see the point in rushing him back if he isn't.

The major changes from Cutler to Moore as far as Parker is concerned would be Cutler's willigness to target Parker in coverage and Cutler's fondness for taking deep shots which could benefit Parker greatly. The latter wasn't happening prior to Parker's injury but the former definitely was. I'm not sure if Moore will be as aggressive throwing into coverage to get the ball to Parker as Cutler was. But you would think Parker's role won't change so if healthy he should be locked into 8+ targets like he had been prior to his injury.

Baltimore is AWFUL against the run so I figure we see lots of Ajayi.

Since the Dolphins should not need to do much other than that to win, I figure it's mostly Landry and Stills in the passing game and they take it very easy with Parker.

The problem with this is that Ajayi has been known to soil himself badly all over sensational matchups. Look at last year's 49ers game, for example.

On paper, Ajayi should be the focal point offensively and should be productive. But all bets are off with this guy since he has failed so often before. If he fails again, the game could ride on Moore and the passing game. I don't think anyone should be surprised if that happens tonight.
