ATL, IND, CIN, PITT all have to atleast be in the conversation1. San Diego2. Chicago3. BaltimoreThese team have monster Defenses and their offenses are looking solid.
I would put Cin at 4, Atl at 5, Pitt at 6, and IND at 7. Until Indy shows some signs of a solid Defense and ability to protect Manning against a good pass rush, the Colts will probably not last long in the playoff...again.ATL, IND, CIN, PITT all have to atleast be in the conversation1. In the case of SD, they obviously look solid, and you certainly can't argue with 60-0 through two games, but in all fairness, they played two CFL franchises there. Let's see it against real competition.
Patriots are still #1 to me.
Maybe true, but Atl just beat TWO tough division rivals. Both teams of which the herd picked to finish ahead of them in the standings and now both teams are 0-2 while they sit at a lofty 2-0.Too early to tell. And, being the best in September means squat, anyway.
Of course. But you'd still rather be top-3 than not, and it makes for borderline interesting discussion.Too early to tell. And, being the best in September means squat, anyway.
Didn't we just have a thread about the wost franchises in the NFL and Tenn and Oak finished 1 & 2 by a lnad slide? Seriously, SD is good, but these teams provide no real test. Teams that have played and passed tests would include:Tier 1:AtlMinnBaltTier 2If you're judging teams based on who they beaten, then Minnesota would be worth an honorable mention.I mean, San Diego looks great, but seriously, it was Tennessee and Oakland.
Clearly.I'm not saying they should be top 3, but their running game has got to be considered among the best in football right now. Brady hasn't even played a good game yet, and they're 2-0. If Chad Jackson can build on his decent first game as a pro, the Pats will be right back in the postseason mix this year.Has everyone forgot the Patriots already?
They beat Tampa, and your precious steelers last year once, shouldve been twice, when they were injured to hellStillers Jr. said:Who, exactly, has Baltimore beaten?Let's wait until they play a team not in contention for the #1 pick in next years draft.
MIN is not even in the team picture right now.Just looking at common opponents between MIN, and ATL (which belongs in the discussion)ATL beat Carolina, in Carolina with ease.MIN had to go to OT to beat CAR in MINKnowledgeReignsSupreme said:PIT, CHI, MIN
With the way they let the Jets back into the game today, I'm not so sure these Pats deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as the Bears. That are just absurdly good on defense, and now they actually have a passing game.Mr.Happy said:Has everyone forgot the Patriots already?
Yea, same here. Well, at least in the top 5 and not becuase they are an overwhelming power but simply because they win when it matters and are just GOOD in clutch situations. I still have faith in Belichick, his system and his ability to get players to step up and shine. The Steelers, The Bengals and The Falcons are looking pretty good to me. I would also put Indy in that group as well, but they have just been a big bust in big games far too many times.BGP said:Patriots are still #1 to me.

San Diego is one of the best teams in football? San Diego has beaten two of the worst four teams in football. They haven't done anything more than New Orleans. Let's let the Chargers have a week off and then go to Baltimore and then host Pittsburgh before blowing too much smoke up their skirts. Also, let's let Chicago play a game outside of their horrible division before appointing them the next monsters of the midway. Atlanta had a great win at Carolina that now looks less impressive given the Panthers loss today. Through two weeks, Baltimore has not been tested but has gotten the job done. Indy looks good but needs to figure out how to run the ball. For my money, through the first two weeks of this season, no team has given me any reason to replace Seattle, Indianapolis or Pittsburgh as the three best teams in football.Colin Dowling said:SD, Chicago, Balt, Atlanta, and Indy look to be the best IMO.
Huh?If you are going to go by schedule, then the Patriots cannot be #1 no matter what they do:
bad team Sun 9/10 Buffalo W 19-17
bad team Sun 9/17 at NY Jets W 24-17
Sun 9/24 Denver 8:15 pm
Sun 10/1 at Cincinnati 4:15 pm
Sun 10/8 Miami 1:00 pm
bye
bad team Sun 10/22 at Buffalo 1:00 pm
Mon 10/30 at Minnesota 8:30 pm
Sun 11/5 Indianapolis 8:15 pm
bad team Sun 11/12 NY Jets 1:00 pm
bad team Sun 11/19 at Green Bay 1:00 pm
Sun 11/26 Chicago 1:00 pm
bad team Sun 12/3 Detroit 1:00 pm
Sun 12/10 at Miami 1:00 pm
bad team Sun 12/17 Houston 1:00 pm
Sun 12/24 at Jacksonville 1:00 pm
bad team Sun 12/31 at Tennessee 1:00 pm
And then if you wanna believe Miami is a bad team, then they got 11 easy games on that schedule?
Ok i removed Minnesota from that list. 10 easy games.
They won by 11 with a backup QB. I'll take that.Lets wait until Pitt wins more than one game before they are repeats. They barely beat Miami.
