Three BOLD preditions for 2010 (1 Viewer)

1. Travis Hafner will lead the Indians in HRs

2. CC Sabathia will give up fatty foods

3. The Cubs will win the NL Central

Mauer hits 360 with 30 HR's at the new Target field and wins MVP

D. Willis wins 14 games for the Tigers, and gets a new contract from Detroit

Seattle wins the W/S

Strasburg is like rookie Prior - K's 16 in a game this year

B. Butler posts a mauer 2009 type year

Adam Jones nickname is used far too much on sportscenter...

and for good measure - we all look back in our leagues to see where Nolasco was taken and wish in one hand

1. The Toronto Blue Jays win the AL East, comfortably.

2. Randy Ruiz receives multiple AL MVP votes.

3. Roy Halladay wins 24 games.

1. White Sox win the WS and Alex Rios hits 20 HRs (the latter being the boldest of those predictions).

2. Brett Anderson wins the AL Cy Young (that's not bold. that's pretty much a lock).

3. Braves win the NL East, the NL and lose to the White Sox in the WS. (toss in a 35 HR season for Troy Glaus while we're at it)

Lincecum finishes out of the top 10 SP's.

By July, Mike Schmidt is closing for the Phillies.

World Series will be a 1987 rematch and Twins win in 7 at home since the NL will lose the All Star game once again.

3. Marlins finish second in NL East

2. After a disappointing first half, Joe Torre is fired at the All-Star break

1. The Mets go a full week without suffering an injury.

1. Sean Rodriguez wins AL ROY

2. Brad Lidge saves 42, ERA under 3.5

3. Nolan Reimold outperforms Adam Jones
This would be pretty bold considering hes not a rookie
Oh. :blackdot: Didn't think he passed the rookie threshold.
I'm not sure if he has one way or the other but listening to the MLB channel on the radio today they said he was still a rookie. Peter Gammons also predicts S. Rodriguez as ROY.

The Rockies will win the NL West but lose to the Giants in the NLCS.

Brian Wilson will lead the NL in saves.

The Rangers finally wise up and fire Ron Washington but it's a little too late and they just miss out on a playoff spot.

*Disclaimer I'm really not a Giants fan (I don't even really like them at all).

Roy Halladay enters the All-Star break with a 14-0 record.

The ROY winner in either league wasn't on a 2010 opening day MLB roster.

Due to a violent riot in the bleachers at Wrigley Field, the Cubs have to suspend a game vs the Brewers

He had 187 plate appearances for the Angels in 2008 and some last yr as well. He passed the threshold.
Additional eligibility requirements were set forth in 1971 with a rookie formally defined as a player with less than 130 at-bats, a pitcher with less than 50 innings pitched, or anyone with less than 45 days on any Major League roster.
Edinson Volquez got ROY votes 2 yrs ago despite not being a rookie.

How many of those at bats were after Sept 1st? Those at bats do not count towards the 130 needed.

I just did a little research and it says Rogriguez had 79 at bats in Sept and Oct in 2008. With those coming off the books it looks like S. Rodriguez is indeed a rookie this year.

1. The Texas Rangers win the AL Pennant but lose in the World Series.

2. The Mets surrender a 5 game lead in the last week of the season.

3. Pujols hits 2 bombs in the opener; people make statements like "he is on pace for 324 home-runs"!

But he has accumulated at least 46 days on an active roster, and the cutoff is 45.
It's 44 days on the active 25 man roster. After September 1st the rosters are bumped to 40. I think any time played or at bats after Sept 1st does not count towards active time.

I had no clue about that stipulation since it didnt say it on MLB.com.
This is what I found on Wikipedia... MLB considers a player to be a rookie if they have not had 130 at-bats or pitched 50 innings in the major leagues and/or have not spent more than 44 days on a 25-man roster for an MLB team. Players that are called up to the majors on or after the 1st of September do not have their at-bats or innings pitched count towards the 130/50.

Jason Heyward hits for a .325 average, has an OBP over .400 and hits 30 bombs

Scott Sizemore goes 20-20 his rookie season

Nolasco wins NL Cy Young

And this is from MLB.com
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).
Which you can interpret as only (b) is subject to the Sept 1 date. In other words: 1. 130 at-bats at any time or 2. 45 days on the active roster before Sept 1.Im not saying youre wrong Im just saying I still have no idea and wikipedia isnt the definitive source.

Hey I had no idea what the rule was before this came up and I always kinda wondered. I'm glad that this topic came up so I was able to do a little research on it. From what I have read combined with MLB radio saying he was still a rookie two days ago and somebody as knowledgeable as Peter Gammons predicting that Rodriguez would be rookie of the year, I'll take my chances that he is indeed a rookie.

Albert hit two round trippers today.... if my calculations are correct... that puts him on pace for 324 home runs... shattering the record. One down... two to go.

Getting no-hit for 7.1 innings and still finding a way to win is a good start to the season for your 1st prediction.
