Three Reasons Why the Pats Offense is Overrated (1 Viewer)

Overrated is slightly to strong a word. IMHO

But I am concerned there could be some issues that hinder the scoring at least some.

I really don't like there schedule, both who and where there playing, and that line I

believe IS WORSE then last year, I believe the running game will be better which isn't

a knock on the offense really but possibly a knock on the passing game, then I also do

feel the defense will be quite improved so no more chucking the rock every game trying

to stay ahead or catch up As Much as last year.

So I do see it coming down, GB the Lions and the Saints I feel will not repeat what they

did, or at least come down some, Philly could certainly improve, I don't see Carolina to

get much better then they were last year and I think Atlanta is over hyped..

So should NE be in the top 6 passing offenses by years end? Probably, but they could be #6.

(Only Elite QB I see having a chance to separate from that pack is Rogers, rest very close)

So I wouldn't REACH for any NE passing offensive players but I wouldn't pass them up either.

If I had to guess which is all anyone else can do, I'd put NE offense 4th by years end here.

(which I say 6th is the floor and 2 is there ceiling, still not a bad place to be at all) :)
I've seen this mentioned a few times in these laundry list kind of posts, and it seems like it's something people who don't watch the pats, or follow the pats, just concoct in their imagination as a throw in to make their posts longer.I'm not sure what you feel the defense should do to keep their offense in the game, but the average scoring in the nfl was around 22 ppg last year, and over the last 5 years the pats have scored about 31 ppg --- so, I think holding the other team to 24 ppg is probably a decent job for teh defense.

I picked 24 ppg because the pats defense only gave up more than 24 points twice out of their 19 games last year -- 27 points each time.

brady averaged 38 pass attempts over those 19 games, and in the 2 games where they had to 'chuck the rock' to keep pace, he threw 45, and 37 balls --- so , now we have 1 of 19 games last year where brady went out of his way to chuck the rock to keep pace with teh other team.

btw, I've noticed I'm constantly typing 'teh' the last few weeks, for some reason.

edit: their defense ranked 4th in the entire league in points allowed in 2007 and they threw the ball 586 times, pre gronk and hernandez.
I would agree, the defense consistently gave up about 24 points a game.

Even to bad teams, so the offense HAD to score 30-35 points a game to feel

they had good coverage, then factor in the belichick rule to score twice as

many as your opponent and the offense was pushed to keep the foot on the gas.

I don't think this years defense is killer by any means, but I see it improving

to at least knock the opposing team scoring down some and relieving the offense

from Having to score 30-35 points to win every game an that's all that point was.

It was only part of the overall assertion I gave the team. Not a giant part at all.

dude, if I may repeat myself --- in 2007, with current oc mcd, the pats held opponents to 17 ppg and brady threw more td than any qb in history.

btw, what is this made up nonsense?I think they gave up 24+ 6 games out of 19.

that's what you call 'consistently'?

edit:

here's a box score for you to check out, since you missed the game

I'm just fine with my ENTIRE post thanks..

Picking 1 line out of it to Try an make your case is weak.

The pats Defense was bad last year, however you want to slice it.

(I believe it will be better this year, that's it in a nutshell)

----------

In your opinion where does the pats passing rank by the years end?

What would you think, there Floor and Ceiling would be by the end?

the case I'm making, and I think pretty well, is that often on the internet, and in fantasy football, and in real life...., people have this urgency to voice an opinion to the point where they just pull #### out of their ### for the sake of having an opinion.

I question whether a lot of these opinions are based on observation or imagination.

You took 1 line out of mine and ran with it.I wasn't trying to make a statement that the defense was a giant part of why the Patsoffense "MAY score less", but to me there defense I think will be better this year anthat may play a small part in the offensive scoring dropping off some this year.I did not say the Pats Scoring was going to be drastically down, nor because of the defensejust that if the defense gets better which I think it will that it has at least some factor. And looking at last year(not other years just last year)Last year in the fantasy scheduled games they gave up at least 21points 9 times out of the 16.At least 24points 7 times, single digit points once, 16-20 points 4 times, 25 or more 3 times.Yah a quick look at that I have no problem saying they easily gave up "about" 24points as thatis the most consistent set of points they gave up last year. (not average but a quick look 24)That's all it was, a quick point on scoring along with factoring that in to the rest of the post.

did you take a 'quick look' at my box score?

what did brady do against those sorry bastards who scored 0?

edit: btw, while you were forming opinions on a 'quick look' at a list of scores, I watched every game.

I watch a fair amount games, and yes plenty of New England games.

Sorry I had to go look at "last years schedule" to see Exactly how

many points they gave up every week, as I would have to do with any

teams as no I can't remember what any team gave up every week there.

And looking at that from last year "about" 24 points a game, is pretty fair.
