Tight End Addiction: Non TE Premium Dynos - Who is with me? (2 Viewers)

Anyone as psychopathic as I am in rostering large numbers of tight ends this year?

Non TE Premium, Start 1 TE roster requirements.

I think we are at a big "changing of the guard" moment with guys like Kelce, Kittle, Andrews, Goedert and Taysom Hill almost at the end of FF high end productivity, so with that, I have invested in quite a few of the rookie TE's that came out this year, heavily invested in Fannin, Ferguson as well as Arroyo with a little more of the higher end guys like Warren and Loveland.

Looking over my rosters, I got 6 dynos where I average 4/FOUR tight ends per roster,

Anyone else with me?

TE breakdown by team: 6, 4, 5, 4, 4, and 3.

And the one where I have 6 I'm strongly considering going hard after Fannin here as well, even though I currently got 6 guys (Pitts is the best of the bunch fyi)

I guess this might be more fun w names

Team 1: T Ferguson/Gadsden/Henry/Theo Johnson/Pitts/Taylor
Team 2: Arroyo/T Ferguson/Kraft/McBride
Team3: Fannin/Gadsden/Gray/Loveland/Pitts
Team 4: Gray/Kittle/Strange/Warren
Team 5: Fanning/Gadsden/Kraft/J Sanders
Team 6: Arroyo/Fannin/Pitts

I'm 4-of-24 in my non-TEP dynasty (Kraft-Kincaid-Goedert-Fannin). Have gone as high as five and usually lead the way in rostering the position. One other team in my league is carrying 4. Most are at 3, and some 2.

Moved off of Gray 3 weeks ago when I decided I had to scoop Horton. Would really love to carry him through to a post-Kelce world, but I just can't rationalize that kind of stash in a 12x24. Same for Mayer. I did make a timely decision that I had to find room for Fannin last week.

Having the TE advantage with prime Kelce has made me somewhat obsessed with trying to find the next version. Drafted Goedert and Kincaid when they came out and I still hold knowing they'll never get to the level I dreamed of. Big Musgrave guy when he came out, but made the right decision to pivot to Kraft when he was still on the wire.

So somewhat obsessed with rostering the position, but it pales in comparison to my addiction for trying to find the next backup RB lotto ticket. This couldn't have been a more pointless and frustrating experience for dynasty in the past two to three seasons. Most demoralizing part of week 1 was watching guys like Ollie Gordon, Tahj Brooks, Dameon Pierce, Skattebo, Sean Tucker, Spears (inj) get nothing or next to it.

I'm not in the dynasty game anymore, but historically I had a lot of success mining the TE ranks in the 2nd-3rd round of rookie drafts. I had high ownership of Graham, Andrews, and McBride. I had a few shares of Kelce. You often see 2nd-3rd round (NFL draft) RB/WR go in the top 5-6 picks of a rookie draft. On the other hand, the non-1st round NFL draft TEs would usually fall to an ADP range where they started to look like the clear BPA. You could often get them between picks 20-30, much later than the equivalent RB/WR prospects.

If we are talking about the last ~20 years of the NFL, it feels like the uber hyped TEs have generally under-delivered (Winslow, Ebron, Hockenson, Pitts, Engram, Howard, Kincaid, etc). At the same time, that 2nd-3rd round range has yielded some phenomenal talent (Witten, Graham, Gronk, Kelce, McBride, Ertz). I don't believe that this pattern will hold over an infinite sample, but if we are talking about the relative cost of acquisition then I think you get more bang for your buck waiting and scooping up the slightly lesser hyped prospects vs. paying a premium for a top 10 NFL pick.

I'm still following the draft from a distance and there have been some good TE talents in that 2nd-3rd round range recently. I thought Kraft was solid, but I also liked Musgrave a lot. He's been very unfortunate with injuries. I thought Schoonmaker and Sinnott had some talent. These are players I would be looking at for cheap startup gambles in dynasty.
