Time for a new iPhone - (1 Viewer)

Hey I'm looking to upgrade my iPhone 7plus to the latest version 17 pro max.

Anyone know of any good deals? I'm thinking Verizon.

I've been very happy with my 7 + but it's time.

TIA

Bro g completely honest and sincere here - any upgrade you make to any iPhone being sold today will be a HUGE improvement for you. If you’re looking for a deal. Upgrade to the cheapest new iPhone you can find. Last year I upgraded from the iPhone SE (still had a button below screen) to a regular 15 and it was night and day.

My parents visited this past weekend. My dad, 71 years old, doesn't even have a phone. Does anyone even know anybody that doesn't have a phone?

Had to think but yea I do, my 80 year old brother. My 80 year old mother-in-law has one but probably shouldn't. We have to instruct her how to send a picture every time she attempts to send one.

When I upgraded from the 6 to the 12, my daughter’s friend said something pretty darn funny. “When you can multiply your phone by 2, yea it’s time for a new one”. With full 13 year old eye rolls 😂😂😂

Well done @Klimtology
I went from an 8 to a 16 earlier this year. The only real difference I notice is the battery life and the camera is better.

If it weren’t for my firm telling me I need the latest iOS if I want to use my phone for work I would have just replaced the battery.

I think T-Mobile is still giving away free iPhones (two year plan). This was for the 16...not sure if they will be giving away free 17s.

I have a 14 Pro Max and am debating whether to do it this year, or wait one more. My battery capacity is 83% and the lightning port is very sensitive to keeping the plug inserted for charging and sometimes I think it is charging, but ends up not actually charging.

Who's your internet provider?

I have Spectrum for internet and had T-Mobile for mobile. Since I had Spectrum, I could get cell service for free (or $10/mo for their upgrade anytime plan) and it was just the monthly cost of the phone. The downside is locked into the phone for 3 years, while the mobile plan is good for 2 years. Still saving $30/mo over T-Mobile.

This has happened to my iPhone quite recently. Drives me nuts because I use wired earbuds and when I try to put the phone in my pocket to go on walks for exercise, 9 times out of 10 it gets jostled and disconnects. I think I'm still paying this sucker off, too... so probably not in a position for a new one just yet.

My parents (mom 74 years old/dad 79 years old) do not have iPhones. My second PhD is csc. It still blows my mind that there are many people out there just not interested in technology..

This is literally me. 14 Pro Max, battery is at 82%. I'm not a crazy user - I don't recharge mid-day unless it's inevitable my phone will die. My battery gets charged via mag charger on my nightstand while I sleep. My absolute replace is when my phone starts to die regularly before the end of the day, and I'm starting to reach that point.

What I'm not sure of is if I still need the top-of-the-line iPhone or if I can start to get comfortable with the lower models. In some ways, I want to be @Klimtology and be so far behind that table stakes are substantial upgrades for me, but I also have major tech envy sometimes.

I brought it up in another thread but if you're using T-Mobile, why not look at Mint, at half the price or more? There single plans are like 20-25 bucks I think.

T-Mobile bought them a few years ago and while there may be some downsides, they seem to be minor for most users. No contract either. Just go back to T-Mobile or another if it doesn't work out.

For single users (no family plan stuff) and those that aren't super active or in big, crowded markets where data or speed (if I'm saying that right) can push you to the back of the line at times, then I don't think there's much difference, if any. I mean, I know I'm not planning on playing World of Warcraft on the subway this century.

I needed a new phone, I was on a 12 and my battery life sucked. T-Mobile didn't have much to offer to get a new phone and the offer from Spectrum worked.
Not sure if Mint offered new phones or if they were free? But with Spectrum I got a new phone, $10 plan + the $28/mo for the phone.
The $10/mo plan also allows me to upgrade my phone to a new model, only paying the sales tax. Supposedly the new phones have smart charging so I don't kill my battery leaving it plugged in overnight....
