Time to bail on STL (1 Viewer)

Cool in the pocket

I think I recall hearing that Goldberg went down yesterday so that makes 4 OL in 4 games. Bulger is banged up and running for his life, SJax is out for who knows how long, Holt has knee problems to some degree (maybe just hindering him a little). Seems pretty obvious that STL is going to have a hard time recovering from all this. What are FF folks doing with a guy like Holt or Bulger? Stash them on the bench and wait and see? Actively seeking a trade--hard to imagine your getting 2nd round value for Holt. What are you hoping to get for him? What about SJax? I think you have to stash him on the bench just due to the number of touches he should get if/when he comes back healthy. Maybe he could be useful down the stretch. Sure looks like a FF trainwreck in STL this year.

The o-line is depleted but Linehan is not helping. If Bulger is hurting he needs to sit. You simply can't devise a gameplan were the objective is not to move the ball but to keep your QB from getting hit. Look at yesterday. The Rams enter the game with SJAX out, facing a Cowboys team whose best corner, Newman, is not 100%. Than the Cowboys suffer and injury to their other starting CB Henry. So let's see, the Rams don't have their starting RB, they do have Holt, Bruce, Bennet and Mcmichael facing a Cowboys teams with a injury torn secondary and the Rams decided to stay with the commitment to the running game by ramming Leonard up the middle. Horrible game plan.

Here is a good idea of how bad it is. Of course the Rams offense has only put up 3 points the last 2 weeks but from a fantasy perspective it's usually good if you have the WR and/or QB from a team that is getting the crap beat out of it. With the Rams getting clobbered they still could not get the passing game and that's the worst sign I've seen yet.

Bruce is also hurt now...Hamstring

Holt can put up #1WR numbers, the Rams just need to make adjustments to get more time in the pocket and free up WRs. I wouldnt bail just yet.

I think so, I'm definitely benching Bulger (probably should have done this week). I may even waive him...
Waiving any of them (SJax, Holt or Bulger) is not recommended. If you have deep enough rosters, there is no reason not to stash them. These guys all have talent and STL has been FF gold in the recent past--the situation in STL has just gotten ridiculous and can't really get any worse. Otherwise, I'd expect most will try and trade them--what are you hoping to get in return for Bulger or Holt? Clearly, you're not going to get 2nd round value for Holt, but would you trade him for, say a WR like Bowe or Branch or (insert lower ranked WR here)?

I concur!

I had a bad vibe about the Rams after Bulger was reported to have the busted ribs last week. The OL injuries had me spooked already, so I pulled the rip cord on Holt(i.e. dealt him) mid-week and felt sort of lousy about it. He's one of my favorites. After seeing that game on Sunday I don't feel anything anymore except relief. That Dallas D isn't exactly a world beater and they just couldn't get much of anything going.

If they can get SOME form of cohesion on that OL all isn't totally lost yet, even with Gus in there if it comes to that....but they need to find that cohesion quickly.

I'm going to stash Holt for the time being and start Bowe in his place. There's no way you're going to get anyone nearly as valuable in a trade unless your trading partner is dumb.

My QB drafting this year was horrid evidently (Bulger & Leinart) So I've picked up Garrard who is steady. But I really think I need a 3rd QB given Bulger's problems and Garrard's 'averageness'. And having to do that as we start to ramp up into the meat of these bye weeks (particularly Week 6) makes roster space a premium. Sitting at 2-2 with Harrison, Heap, & Henry showing up on the injury report means that I have to at least look long and hard at this option and essentially decide if Bulger is going to be worth anything. Unless he returns to his 4000 yard self, why not simply pick up a Schaub or even Harrington since they've at least got some mojo...Maybe it comes back to bite me, but as most coaches will tell you - you got to worry about the guys on your team, not the ones that aren't.

Does anyone else consider Sjax a decent buy low? I was thinking about offering Jordan for him since his back is acting up and he's got a bye next week anyway...not an AC question, but with the total decimation of the line, can he be effective at all? He finally looked like he got something going the last game, but basically had to jump over his line to get any yards in that game. Can he still put together a decent season?

Reminding me of the Raiders last season. With a whole lot more weapons. In the manner of stear clear.

Bulger(top 5)

Steven Jackson(top 5)

Holt(Top 5-10)

Wilkins(top 3)

Raiders didn't carry any rankings close to that...Actually Lamont Jordan was a consensus top 10 mid 5-7rb. Look at where he finished.

Damn! The Rams are drawing comparisons to the '06 Raiders. That is bad..reeeeeeal bad.

I do actually see SJax as a decent buy low. His owner is likely struggling and is he's prolly a little steamed his first round pick (and likely 2nd overall) has produced squat and his out for who knows how many more weeks. Panic could be setting in. Jordan would be a nice swap for him, but I suspect that a savvy owner would see a yellow flag with the back, the bye and Rhodes and try and squeeze you for more. When/if SJax comes back, I expect he'll produce like a decent RB2 with obvious RB1 upside. As for Holt and Bulger, I'd be all for stashing them and if that isn't viable, they should be dealt ASAP and hope name value gets you something decent in return.
