there are TWO main reasons i think about leaving leagues1) fundamental scoring and rule changes AFTER the initial draft, especially in dynastynot talking about minor tweaks, talking about the major changes. one may draft differently if they'd have made the rule change BEFORE2) vetoing of non-collusional trading ... i love the veto excuse "well i just vetoed it because it was helping your team more than you were giving up" ... well GREAT, you should have traded with him first ... don't veto me because i'm trying to improve my teami have the best veto story ... i made a trade with another owner ... we had 5 "trade moderators" that voted on all trades to approve/disapprove and have to give expanation of their reasoning to why one team won the trade in a league unbalancing manner ... they voted 3-2 to disapprove one trade BUT THEY COULDNT EVEN AGREE ON WHICH TEAM GOT THE LOPSIDED PART OF THE DEAL ... the 3 dispprovals disagreed 2-1 on who "won" the deal ... yet they still disapproved saying by letter of the law, majority disapproval means trade doesnt go thru and they had nothing that stated they could use common senseneedless to say, i will finish the year there and then asta la vista
Trade vetos are probably the biggest source of strife in leagues that we hear about on here. Which is one reason I really try to avoid leagues that use those. And I see no reason for them anyway. A nice common sense check that gets rid of LT for Chris Perry is enough.

1st place $ is 1st place $ - regardless of who you beat.
This aint true. FF is a game. People play games to be challenged. Why play a game for lack of challenge? Surely you do not count on FF as an income, do you? I hope not.
Actually, this isn't too far off. People play games for different reasons. I do not play for an income, but I don't play to lose money either.
I thought most people played for fun. But that's just me, and being in a leauge where you completely dominate just gets old after awhile. It's like putting on the "God Mode" cheat in a video game, my girlfriends 10 year old brother loves playing when he has no chance of losing. Personally the competitive edge is what makes it fun.

You just learned a lesson. I NEVER mention to anyone of possible trades.
I agree. Mentioning a trade to anyone not involved in it is just asking for trouble. For that reason, I also do not like in the MFL setup when the commissioner has the option to see all trade offers made by teams in the league.
any commish getting involved in the trade talk of other owners is really treading on thin ice---if anything, I stay away from any discussion as it pertains to a specific deal in 1 of my leagues--I have had plenty of discussion w/owners about deals in other leagues, which is finethe "lockout" thing has never been a big deal to me, because I couldn't sniff around trade talk amongst owners and still sleep at nightthat said, "when EF Hutton talks...":lockoutinitiated:

ohhh. but i think this takes away commish abilities to conduct add/drops.
:lmao: Go to Commish > Setup > Abilities Setup (3d option on left-hand column).Select "Yes."All it does is prevents you from SEEING pending trades, FA moves, lineup changes, etc.
This is not true. I just tried it and it takes away my ability to CONDUCT add/drops for teams.
Sorry, I double-checked and you're right, my bad. Coulda sworn it wasn't like this before but it probably was. ;)This should be broken out into diff. options/choices. Oh well, too late to suggest it for this year.

Absolutely not. I play for fun as well...and competition. I think you're misunderstanding me. I don't go around looking for the nearest fantasy football ####### league just so I can get signed on and dominate year after year. People play FF for all sorts of reasons. All I'm saying is that you don't have to go around looking for the nearest All-World experts league to get into either. That's fine if if you do - but everyone has their own reasons.

All due respect, why in the world would you want to play REAL fantasy football if it means "better competition? I'd rather win money.
I think your messages are rather ambiguous.

I must be wrong. Enough people disagree with me on this matter that it's likely I am. I stand corrected.

I go with the tried and true "mutual fund" approach when it comes to playing fantasy football. I keep 1-2 "cupcake" leagues to cover my league dues in my other more-serious leagues, then use that $$$ to pay dues to play in 4-5 leagues where the competition is FIERCE. I play in the cupcake leagues to win cash.....plain and simple. Candy from young children. Okay, young adults who run to the bookstore to buy a three-week old FFL mag on their way to the draft. I play in the serious leagues for the sheer joy of competition. If you have a great season and/or bring home a title/cash, it means something. Beating "the best" is 10-times more enjoyable than crushing in a locals league year after year.

But maybe that's just me? What's the fun of winning if you know going in that, apart from a Shakespearean Tragedy of injuries, you practically have no chance of NOT bringing home a top-three finish? Woo Hoo. I beat my four-year old daughter in a foot-race. Next stop: Olympic Games. :bowtie:

We've talked about this lockout feature before and you know I've always objected to the commish being able to see trades. But I never felt comfortable starting any league topics about it because frankly, it would be difficult to say I objected to the commish seeing trades without it coming across like I distrust you personally. And that's not the case. You're a good guy, that's why I play in your leagues, I do trust you personally. I just don't think anyone should put themselves in a position where they have a possible conflict of interest, period. Instituting the lockout feature (as you've done within the last 24 hours) is a plus for both you and the leagues. It takes away any doubt or suspicion anyone could have. With the number of players in your leagues in 3 digits now, that matters. Good move, commish.
