Time to sell on Mcgahee, or time to grin? (1 Viewer)

McGahee finally had a big game, and has a delicious schedule for the next 3 weeks (Oak, Cle, Hou). Things get tough again after that (giants, wash, pitt, with cinci and dallas sprinkled in), and there's been a report he was playing through pain in his knee last week.

Who's sees green pastures ahead, and who's trying to get a good receiver for him (I'm drooling over Lee Evans).

well, its easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stock market beat. But the man worth while, is the one who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat. :football:

I tried shopping earlier in the year with no luck. Always said its Willis's job still, its just a matter of him getting fit. And there is still question marks over that. The situation is about as clear as it was 3 weeks ago.

1. We know its McGahee's job - No arguements there.

2. They still draining liquid of his knee as of last week

3. 3 easy games and then a horror stretch

4. Baltimore still commited to the run so thats a positive.

Who knows, he is a HOLD for mine. But that is probably been forced on me with my situation at RB and my selling of Bush and Westy the last 3 Weeks.

I had a chance to trade for him last week, and declined. Even after his solid game last week, I still want no part of him - too many week-to-week headaches.

I just traded, in a keeper type, salary based 16 team league, T Edwards, J Charles and TO (couldn't keep TO)

for McGahee

I gave 2 great keepers and TO for a RB down the stretch

I don't own him, but honestly I would sell if you get a good offer. If you don't get a decent offer, hold him for the next couple nice matchups and try to sell again. I just don't think he will stay healthy. Draining excess fluid out of your knee is not a good sign.

I know that knee business has me holding tight to 'ol Le'Ron.My gut feel is we could be in a McClain thread just like this one at any moment.

Ray Rice seems to fit their offensive style much more than ol' Ron. If McGahee would go down for some period I would venture to guess it would be at worst a 50/50 split between RR and McClain

It's never a bad time to sell on McGahee.
You want him?
Depending how cheap. I certainly wouldn't pay what McGahee owners think his value is.
Always interesting to see a guy have a good game then people discuss trading him, the days of "stealing" from the clueless seem to be long gone in FF where I play.mcGahee has the most value to his owners because they drafted him as a starter, where the people trying to get him value him as a depth play that could help.He has almost no trade value because of it IMO.

Great point. And it makes Hoss' point. He wants him as depth. But for me, he's still a starter and he has a nice stretch of games coming up. Why would I sell him cheaply?

you can venture all you want concerning Ray Rice, but the fact of the matter is that McClain will get the carries and also the GL carries... Rice may look good on paper or preseason hype, but the guy isn't going to be a contributor this year. (assuming Willis gets hurt)

I disagree. I think as the season progresses, and if McGahee misses time, Rice will start to see the field more an more. McClain isn't anything special regardless of his early season success.

I'm grinning ear to ear and I have no intention of trading him in a dynasty league.

Why would I? Anyone who wants to deal for him will only try to lowball me under the assumption that he's going to get hurt again. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But for now, he's healthy with an upcoming stretch of nice matchups, and he's the most talented RB on the Ravens roster assured of getting 20+ touches per game as long as he stays that way.

Why would someone trade a 27 year old starting RB at a discount because they assume he'll get hurt again? Makes no sense to me. Rice might be the future there, but his time won't come unless McGahee has moved on.
