Time to trade for Adrian Peterson (1 Viewer)

Provided you're guaranteed a playoff spot... is it a smart time to trade for ADP? Seems like his trade "value" from FBG is pretty low. Risk/reward in a redraft?

High ankle is 4 weeks... maybe. that puts us at week 16? That's a bust. Yeah?

Perhaps, if the trade deadline weren't already over.

Wouldn't go too crazy though, like you said, could be 4 weeks. Could be 2? Lot of risk giving up a healthy player for an injured.

I'm looking at the same situation except my team isn't guaranteed a playoff spot yet. I'd be giving Burress/SJax for Holmes/Peterson. Peterson would fill in my WR/RB flex spot behind Rice and Forte and if Peterson can't go I'm looking at Vincent Brown or Barber type players to fill in his spot. Would appreciate any advice since I'm 50/50 on it right now.

I picked up Kevin Smith last week and the Peterson owner offered me him for Kevin Smith straight up.

Tough decision considering Peterson is Peterson, and Smith was just a flier.

I think it could go either way. It's not supposed to be that bad of a sprain which is good - but the Vikings are terrible & I just can't see them risking throwing him out there if he's not 100%. I think he misses at least two weeks but could be back for the playoff run. It's a gamble that could pay off if you can acquire him at a nice discount.

Holding the last playoff spot PPR and debating selling M.Bush my 3rd rb for him to a team just behind me. Seems like they both have a couple of weeks of question marks, I just dont know if I want to be on the healthy now or later side of it.

It was the Panthers. Look at CJnoK ths week vs. last. Not saying that Smith doesn't have potential for more good games, but it's Adrian Peterson.

The thing is, Peterson can sit out and be okay next week, or be out until week 15 or 16. While it's just a grade 1 sprain and Peterson has been a quick healer, there's a lot of uncertainty there. Not to turn this into the assistant coach's forum, but I'm 10-1 so I can afford to wait. Problem is, my starting backs are Fred Jackson and Ray Rice. Jax is done, and I have Kevin Smith, Ogbonnaya, and Hillis on IR. Hillis did some light running and cutting individually today, so that's a plus. I'll have an IR pick for Jackson and the best option there is Gerhart. Spiller is gone. But I'm last in line and Gerhart may go before me. I'm nervous about the possibility of going into Week 14 without a decent #2RB option. Are we hearing it's a given that Peterson will take the walking boot off tomorrow like ESPN alluded to just now? Is this as bad as Felix Jones' sprain?

I absolutely traded him...high ankle sprains are a #####... see McFadden (also on my team). My team is tied for the top seat... and I lost Cutler and Peterson at the same time. Its a 2 QB league... so I needed to make a move. Was able to work a blockbuster trade. I went after the 2nd worst team in our league who owns Brady.

I got:

Brady

Michael Bush

2012 1r1p

2013 1r1p

Gave up:

ADP

Cutler

Luck

Obviously this is a dynasty/keeper league.

Anyone traded away or traded for Peterson lately? Would love to see what the trades looked like.

Any updates at to the estimated time of return? Week 14? Week 15?

As stated above, the Peterson owner offered me him for Kevin Smith straight up. After Fred Jackson went out, I decided to do it Thanksgiving morning. I'm glad I did. (Redraft)

He was ruled out tomorrow, but is out of the walking boot. As per John Clayton he was doing some pool work but the trouble came from when he was on his toes trying to cut. It sounds like there's a decent chance of him returning next week and a good chance of him being ready for Week 14.

If you're mediocre at RB2 and can afford to wait, I think it's a nice gamble to take.

I have him in my main league. I'd let him go for a decent WR at this point or anyone that I could start within reason. With high ankle sprains there's a lot of swelling and weakness initially that will takes time to heal regardless of how tough he is. Knowing AD, he'll be pushing to get back out there ASAP but the Vikes have every reason to take it slow.

i'm in second and should lock up a 1st round bye this weekend. guy i traded with is on the brink of making the playoffs and cannot afford to wait on ap.

ppr. i traded forte/reggie/hernandez for ap/sproles/dickson.

high ankles are a huge risk but, fingers crossed, ap is back by week 15.

we shall see.

I wouldn't give up much for him. Not only is there a chance he's out 4+ weeks but due to the nature of injury and risk of long-term damage there's a strong chance they limit his touches for the rest of the season. The Vikings aren't in the playoff hunt and there would be no reason to risk anything with their franchise player. Unless you're giving up very little, trading for AP is a sucker play.

Wow. I wouldn't have given up more than Forte in that trade. Not only are you taking a risk but you might be facing this guy in the playoffs and he will be at a huge advantage if AP isn't 100%.

McFadden has a foot injury, not a high ankle sprain.

If your leagues still allow trades this late in the season something is wrong.
:goodposting:
Yup- last week was also too late..... bad late trades= league disintegration.
I'm commish in a redraft league and we intentionally end trades at the end of Week 13 when the free agent moves end.The caveat to keep things honest is that once a team is determined to be mathematically out of contention, they are not allowed to trade.

duly noted. there is also a chance that he is back week 14 15 and 16 and helps win championships. i'll get back to you at season's end and let you know how it panned out. high risk, high reward is my game.

There's just as a good of a chance of his first game back being week 14 and being limited carrying the ball 10 or less times and helps lose championships.

I must have more faith in ADP than everyone else -- I traded for him and gave up McGahee/Decker/Daniels (12 team snake PPR, non-keeper, fractional pts for carries/completions...QBs occupy spots 1-7 overall). I'm 10pts out of 2nd high overall score, locked in for the upper bracket playoffs. I've been starting Romo-LeSean-McGahee-Blount-Calvin-Laurent-Jermichael. Tebow-Spiller-DeAngelo-Julio-Decker-Tampa Mike-Owen on the bench. While McGahee's workload is nice, I don't see his 15/16+pts per week putting me over the top. Blount is warming up and has JAX-DAL-CAR to finish the year...he'll be my RB2 plugger. If ADP comes back and gives me at least 16pts + a possible explosion from my flex I'll be happy. I see this trade too as high risk/high reward. I gave up my personal fave Decker too who has quite the easy wk14-16 schedule for a WR3/flex.

If ADP is 80% of his normal self I win in this trade. If he is limited or gets hurt again then all bets are off. I personally think he's back strong in week 14 to tear up the confused Jags.
