If they hire a competent coach, the Magic make the playoffs next year. :bowtie: Complete performance last night.

Are the Pistons really going to let Monroe walk for nothing? :lmao: I just don't get how they bungled this (if in fact they just let him walk). I don't see the fit with him and Drummond but how do you not get something for him? It's not like they havent had many opportunities to deal Monroe..Assume they'll be spending a lot of $$ on Jackson.
Once Monroe signed the qualifying offer the Pistons lost any trade leverage. He's going to be a UFA and he wants to see if he can get a max deal. If a team wanted to trade for him, they'd either have to give him the max up front or risk losing him at the end of the season. Any team willing to pay him the max could just wait and not have to give up an asset for him.

This was all bungled well before SVG took over. Like most of the Pistons' problems, it goes back to the Josh Smith signing. After that Monroe pretty much made up his mind his future was not in Detroit.

What do you Pistons fans think of Reggie? He seems to be putting up good stats in his last 10 or so games although his TO's have been alarming.

I'm coming around on him. He's definitely got talent. I do think the raw numbers are a bit of a product of SVG's system and he still needs to improve his decision-making, but at least he put that awful start behind him and is helping the team win some games now.

I've kind of accepted that the Pistons are going to overpay him but I guess that's better than overpaying a guy who didn't fit the system in Monroe.

I know I'm biased but I really hope the Pistons make a run at Draymond Green. They need forwards who can shoot and play defense, they need some vocal leadership, and they need to find good players who might actually want to play in Detroit. Green might be the only guy in the league who checks all those boxes.

The Warriors will probably match an offer on him but it's worth a shot.

Yah..no way the Dubs let him go.

I was at the Pistons/Bulls game last week and he looked great. He also looked like a shameless gunner who wouldn't be nearly as fun to watch if the shots weren't going in. I'd be nervous about throwing him a lot of money.

He's getting a max contract this year, I don't know if GS can swing that.

How much is a max contract for an RFA?

With the impending cap jump we'll be alright as long as the ownership backs up their claims that they're willing to go over the cap.

Signing Draymond might cost us Barnes if he gets a monster deal, but he's expendable. Curry, Klay, and Draymond are the foundation for the next 5 years.

Sefolosha out for the year. Broke his leg while he was resisting arrest after the Chris Copeland stabbing in New York.

25% of the salary cap so probably starting at 17 million next year with annual raises. He'd be looking at close to 5yrs/$100million.

This isn't OKC we're talking about.

This West seeding 2-6 is going to be a lot of fun over the last 4 games.
Totally nuts. The team that gets the 6 seed could have a record virtually good enough to be the 2 seed.

Meanwhile, the 6 seed in the East will be under .500.

Not that this observation is breaking new ground, but the disparity just never seems to end.

They still want to keep Barnes as he is only 22 years old. The Warriors can allow him to progress at a slower pace.

The casualties will be Lee this off season and Iggy next season.

I agree, but other teams know that too. I wouldn't be surprised if Barnes gets a near max offer. At that point he'll be too expensive even for the Warriors.

Portland locked into the 4 seed, but the 2,3, 5 and 6 seeds are all within one game of one another. Games for those teams will be like playoff games. Should be fun.

Come on Houston!!!!!
Tim Duncan comes through again. Pops hack-a-Shaq routine on Josh Smith took away from the game (CHANGE THE RULE ALREADY NBA!) but the Spurs really appear back to their old tricks over the last few weeks.James Harden makes that game-winner and the MVP race gets reallll interesting. Lock it up for Steph Curry now IMO.

Or the 5 guys in the league that it works against could learn how to shoot a free throw. I think it's a fantastic way to embarrass a player.

The NBA game should be entertaining. Games where that strategy is employed tend to be the opposite. Tonight's game was awesome despite that due to the importance of the contest, the playoff atmosphere, and the level of play.

Houston could have pulled him from the game or in the last 10+ years that he's been a pro basketball player, he could have learned one of the most important fundamentals.

There is as much blame on Houston and Smith as there is on Pop for what happened. As you said, it's an important game. Win how you have to. Houston employs flopping to win games which is just as ugly.

Looks to me like Duncan clearly fouled him. Which is hilarious when King Flop actually gets fouled but no call.

I really wanted Houston as the 2 seed though. Think Mavs can definitely take them. Not looking forward to Memohis or San Antonio or really the Clippers either.

I want the Spurs to get the 2 or 3 seed. I want to see them and Warriors in the conference finals.

If everything stays the same as it is now the entire southwest division will make the playoffs. Has that ever happened before?

All NBA:

1st: curry, harden, James, Davis, Duncan

2nd: Paul, Westbrook, Aldridge, gasol, gasol

3rd: klay, Irving, Leonard, green, Jordan

First out: cousins

Warriors better win it this year
If they can somehow avoid the Spurs in the West, hard to see them not making the Finals.

Until GS proves they can play the half court game in the playoffs, I'll take the Spurs. With how Kawhi's playing right now and how he's played against LeBron, I'd have a hard time betting against the Spurs period.

So the previous 80 games worth of half court awesomeness is ignored just because it's the playoffs?

The Dubs dominated teams at a historical level this year. I know the intensity amplifies in the playoffs, but with how well they have played this year I don't believe it will play a big factor. This DUBS team almost beat the Spurs 2 years ago with a hobbled Curry & Bogut and inferior coaching.

I get the fear of the Spurs, but if the Warriors lose in the playoffs it will be because of injury (please no) or because the better team won (really only the Spurs and Cavs are threats).

:goodposting: Spurs are the only threat to Golden State in West.

Leonard was the difference in their meeting just a week ago. Guy dominated on both ends & best player on the floor. We'll definitely be seeing more of Leonard on Curry.

You have Duncan on your first team?
Both Gasols are centers IMO and I have trouble understanding the argument for Pau or DeAndre over Cousins.
I think it's high time to change the number of positions from five to three: Bigs, wings and point guards. And even the distinction between wings and PGs gets fuzzier by the year.

Four teams tied at 26 losses for the 2, 3, 5 and 6 seeds.

Are all these teams going to try to win their remaining games? Or are there teams who would try to tank for what they perceive as a better first-round matchup?

It's a tough game to play. Clearly you don't want the 6. The 5 would be nice for home court vs. injured Portland, except then you get the Warriors in round 2.

I think they all want the best seed they can get.
