Bittersweet to watch the game tonight. My dad passed shortly after game 5 on Sunday. We had the game on for him, as he definitely wanted to watch it.

Loved watching NBA and talking hoops with my dad. Tons of great memories.

Have one for my dad tonight please guys.
Sorry for your loss man. I hope you enjoy the game!

The games have been entertaining. But watching last night I started to think about teams that have won an NBA title and wondered how either of these two would rate against them. The eventual winner, imop, may be one the worst "teams" to ever win a championship.
This Golden State team is one of the better teams in NBA history.
Two weeks ago, I would have agreed.

However, them struggling this much to beat a Cavs team that is severely outmanned takes them down a few notches. Regardless of how awesome LBJ is, one of the better teams in NBA history would have won disposed of this Cavs team in 4.
You mean like the 72 win 1996 Bulls did to a Sonics team that was Payton, Kemp, Detlef Schremp and a bunch of lifeless corpses? They started 34 year old braided and eterna-stoned Sam Perkins and their bench player who got the most minutes was 36 year old Frank Brickowski. Took the Bulls six games to dispatch them, including a 21 point blowout loss in Game 4 and a double digit loss in Game 5.
Not comparable. Besides, the Bulls were never in any real trouble in that series. There was never any doubt they had it.

Heard on the news that the away team is 11-0 in the playoffs with the refereeing squad assigned tonight.
Edit to add: Giving people options. Please choose the stat the best fits your bias or the narrative you would like to push.

Home teams are just 1-11 in the 2015 playoffs w/Scott Foster. Easily the worst W% for a single postseason since 2007.

Marc Davis is officiating his 6th #NBAFinals game. #Cavaliers have won 9 straight (including playoffs) officiated by Davis. #Warriors

Sorry for your loss, Brit.If you're ready to talk about him, I'd love to hear who some of his favorite players and teams were.

Until then... To your dad! :banned:

Dad was born in Kansas then moved to Seattle at 11, so he was big into the Sonics. He used to tell me I was going to be a player like Jack Sikma. We rooted for KU every year in the NCAAs, even though neither of us went to college, still have distant relatives back there. The 90s Sonics games were amazing for us, we had season tickets in the cheap seats for 4 years and partial packages other years. We would listen to games on the radio a lot too, as I worked with him growing up. Loved the Sonics up till they got stolen by David Stern & Lumpy.

Relevant to this place, he always said the best player he ever watched was Wilt, not Jordan. Although he did say a few times that he thought LeBron might be even better than Wilt. He also was a Bird fan and referred to himself as Larry Legend (his name was Larry) more than once - he was very sarcastic.

Thanks for asking, Tommy. Tell your dads you love them guys.

This series never was either, it felt just like the Grizzly series. The only moment we might have been nervous was because it is LeBron with the 2 - 1, but even them I was fairly confident that they Warriors would turn it around and the Cavs would wear out.

Since it just showed that the Warriors have assisted on every FG, they gave an assist for those Iguodala jumpers? The ones where he received the pass at the 3-pt line, stood there for 2 seconds, dribbled in a few steps, and took a jumper? Generous assist, I guess.

Great, the game Cleveland should be getting makeup calls we get Scott Foster of the 11-game road team winning streak as head referee. Pack it in, boys.
Hopefully the shot clock operators in the Finals change. The Cavs are owed an extra possession today.
Did the Cav's have some magical 18pt* play on the books for that "stolen" possession? ;)

*Average margin of defeat over the last two games.
1st Qtr to early to unveil the 18pt play?
