**Titans at Jaguars** (-6.5, 40) AFC South Champions-Jacksonville Jaguars (1 Viewer)

The more I see the replay, the more I think it was the worst call in years. I don't understand how the replay booth didn't overturn it.

I didn't expect the Titans to win or anything and I don't generally complain about calls but that was rough
You would need to see what they labeled a catch vs the Miami Dolphins vs New England last week
Thornton has 1 foot down in bounds, 2nd foot is completely out of bounds and they rules it a catch and nobody seems to understand why, not the TV Ref, nobody
I understand why....part time officials.

When the arm is moving forward with the ball. It’s a forward pass

The ball didn’t move forward by magic and he didn’t bat it forward…
Fumble!! Need control moving forward
Define “control “

If I can propel an object forward 10 yards? I clearly have control of that object
Not if you wanted to propel that object 20 yards. You lost control. You did not control what you wanted to do with the object.
And I checked the box score this morning. It was a fumble.

Because it was a fumble. The ball was moving in his hand when it starts to come forward. I actually thought they might overturn because...well, the NFL typically does that when I am pretty sure of a call as they don't ever seem to apply consistent rulings...but that was clearly a fumble.
How far did the ball go? What's the mechanics of that happening? Fumbles pop out and roll around and everyone dives pig piles on it.

This was a sound argument about the tuck rule game yet Brady and BB got their gift. I can't believe it's not relevant now.
I've seen fumbles go 5 10 yards forward in the air. I've seen fumbles go straight up in the air and someone catches it. There are plays similar to last night when someone catches it so the ruling only affects stats. What about a backwards pass. That is a fumble also.

That being said I wouldn't have been surprised or upset if they ruled it incomplete, it was that close.

That stuff infuriates me.
The presentation of "we're going to review plays to catch mistakes to ensure a good game is called" becomes hog wash when everyone at home disagrees with a call.

I can't stand when both teams fans (millions of people) are in agreement and yet a call is the opposite.

The Jags Titans is divided, not this thread topic.
Just FYI...I don't root for TN/JAX and I immediately thought....maybe it wasn't a fumble
When I watched it, I would want it ruled a fumble, it looked that way to me and was happy the Refs let it play out
Were I rooting for the Titans, maybe I might have felt slightly different but it looked like a fair call from my POV
Had Titans +6.5 if it matters

Agree and commend you for the refreshing honesty that many will not post

I think 2019 was the absolute ceiling, and I doubt he can duplicate it personally, and the 2 one-and-done appearances after that, plus this season's collapse adds to the doubts.

You could substitute the word "Tannehill" in there instead of "Vrabel" and you'd have a sentence that makes just as much sense.

What I'm saying is that might be a build problem with the quarterback and surrounding cast that has carried him.
Could very well be, but I suspect Vrabel has built that offense to be what it is. Ground and pound with some play action ability. Problem is that system falls apart when it goes off script.

How far the ball went is not relevant. The mechanics are the ball was loose as his arm comes forward. He was not in control of the ball.

Yes. This. Literally what the NFL defines as “empty hand”, correct.

What happens to the ball after he fumbles it is completely irrelevant. That he managed to push it forward doesn’t matter in the slightest.

All that mattered was that he lost control of the football as his hand was hit.

This one wasn’t close IMO. On every angle of replay I saw, the ball was moving around in his hand before his arm came forward.

The problem is when 60% of your offensive line is JV level, your QB is a practice squad guy, and your best receivers are rookies. I expected more of woods this year, that’s a disappointment and it REALLY sucks to lose 7 straight but honestly their record is what I thought it would be.

Is every pass that is under thrown a fumble?

What in the world are you talking about?

No "pass" thrown is a fumble.
But if you don't have control of the ball in the passing motion it is a fumble.

Guessing it will be LAC -1.5
I would bet my house on LAC if the line was that close.
ahem, your casino awaits you HSG
I need to see if Bosa & Williams are playing. Definitely changes the calculus.

Also I’ve got LAC -2
That is probably a slight impact on the line. maybe it moves to -2.5 if Williams goes. I think Bosa is probably presumed to be playing.

It’s a bigger impact on if I want to bet this game.

I don't agree with the "fire Vrabel" comment, but he put too much on Dobbs's plate on that last drive. 3rd and 5 with Derrick Henry and a PS QB? You run the ball and let JAX try and win it. Vrabel's end of game management was brutal tonight.

He deserves kudos for taking a guy from the Lions PS and making him a viable QB for the week, though.
Vrabel is a good/great regular season coach. The issue I would have if I was a Titan fan is if he can take them further. I think 2019 was the absolute ceiling, and I doubt he can duplicate it personally, and the 2 one-and-done appearances after that, plus this season's collapse adds to the doubts.
Modern day Marty Schottenheimer?

how far do you expect him to drag a team with no passing game?
