Colin,
White didn't look like he was in game shape all year, and his conduct/behavior didn't show me a guy with the lightbulb on. He also seemed like he had much less of an initial burst than he did @ USC, don't you think?
He _could_ put it all together, but unless he dedicates himself (which is in question), I just don't see it happening.
But I'm rooting for the guy.
Care to explain?
Sure. He's never been too good at caring for his body - read this pre-draft scouting report where he discusses his fluctuating weight and eating habits:
http://usc.scout.com/2/503058.html
Now, a lot of guys can eat horribly and be fine, but White's body has shown to be a little more prone to picking up fat. But that didn't stop him from pigging out or even realizing that _maybe_ that wasn't such a good idea.
Then it turned out he had a torn hamstring, which he didn't reveal until after he skipped his pro day workouts:

Again, not a big deal in a vacuum, but either White or his people really dropped the ball and let his rep take a huge hit before finally explaining why he wouldn't run. Again, White seemed utterly naive about why this would be a problem.
Then he spit on a teammate in practice:

That's generally considered one of the worst things you can do to another player, and doing it to a teammate is a particularly large red flag to me.
He never seemed like the same player during the season, either. I felt he was at least a half-step slower than his college performances, and it _really_ made me start to doubt him.
Now, we're hearing the same stuff you always hear about a high pick who underperformed -- that he's going to kick butt in the offseason conditioning program and now he totally understands what he needs to do to be successful in the league. This comes via stories like this:

I hope he kicks major butt. I really do. But when a young guy shows signs of a lack of dedication, it's usually 50/50 at best as to whether he turns it around. White strikes me as a guy who is figuring out how to say the right things, but it'll be his actions that'll tell the real story.
