Titans want Troupe to reconnect...link inside (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

I thought Troupe did really well in 2005 with 500+ yds and 4 TD on about 50+ receptions...last year he had a rookie throwing the ball and then he broke his foot the last 6 weeks of the season...I also thought he had nagging injuries prior to that as well. I think Troupe could be a great sleeper candidate and in a Jeff Fisher coached team he could easily have 60-70 cathces as a dump off point for Young.

Troupe could still turn it around, but IIRC he was underperforming well before VY took over (and obviously before he got hurt).

He seems to be talented, no doubt, but as mentioned, Young seems to have a comfort level with Scaife.

What reasoning are people using to expect one or the other (bo or ben) to have significantly better numbers than the other? Or should we expect about a 50/50 split?

Bo came out of Texas in the 2005 Draft, so while minimal, there may be some comfort level between Vince and Bo from their brief college days.

Bo stepped up in the 2nd half with 16 catches for 191 yards and 2 TD thanks to Ben's injury, although he only had two games with more than 2 catches in that span. I can see Troupe biting into some of Bo's numbers but his health is a question and a factor.

The Titans are going to give Troupe every possible chance for him to be the number one receiving option at TE.
And you're basing that on...?
He got most of the first team reps the other day. And different comments in the articles that float around online. Plus what the Titans have invested in him. The truth is, if he becomes more reliable and healthy, he is the larger threat than Scaife, I think everyone knows that. So he's going to get his chances. I can't promise you that he will grow into the TE that we want him to, but I truly believe that he will be the opening day starter, and remain there until his play takes him out of the line-up.Look at him, that is a lean 270lbs. I think you would HAVE to give him every chance.( Jeff Fisher on TE Ben Troupe's progress)He peaked the year before last and then really couldn’t finish the season with the injury. He’s one of those guys that we’re counting on. We have to be smart offensively and use him as we see fit and help him to fit into the offense. He’s in great shape right now and probably as strong as he’s ever been. He’s one of those guys that should take another step.

I agree that the opportunity could be there, but it's only May. He's got to show a ton more than what he did last year IMO. As for the investment in him, he was a mid-2nd round draft pick, so there's not a ton of money tied up in him.

Troupe's athletic ability is unquestioned. He's close to Watson/Davis, no kidding. The problem is, his hands/coordination have not been consistent - and he was in the doghouse, then hurt last year. The sky's the limit if he can get it together, and he's a terrific buy low for dynasty leagues, especially TE premium leagues.

 I love Troupe's potential and have since college, but you're right that there have been issues. His high end is as high as anyone (this side of Gates) but he hasn't reached it. Bo is a safer bet to get decent, but unspectacular stats. I've said this in other threads, but these two could be VY's #1 and 2 targets this year.
