IIRC he made some anti-semetic remark in jest and it got blown out of proportion.

Anyway his style is pretty boiler plate now, but occassionaly he has some good points.

He made some ill considered remarks about greed and a certain religion which did not go down well with ESPN/Disney

Michael LA: So Gregg, did espn have to give up a 2nd round draft columnist to nfl.com to get you back or were you in your unrestricted free agency year?SportsNation Gregg Easterbrook: (3:09 PM ET ) Michael, my contract at NFL.com expired after the 2006 Super Bowl. I actually demanded to be traded for Oswald the Rabbitt, but he had already been moved for Al Michaels. We're just starting and there are already boucoup questions about why I left and why I came back. Let me cut to the quick by simply saying time has passed, wounds have healed. The world would be a better place if people could forgive each other's mistakes and shake hands. That's what has happened here -- and I recommend it. That's also all I plan to say on the subject.

I like TMQ. Some of his schtick gets old after a while but he'll also make the fans' arguments that other people won't make. I enjoy his columns for their entertainment value. I don't think that you're going to come away with some kind of stunning revelation about the game of football, but his stuff is a fun read anyway.

I read his stuff when he 1st came to espn.com and loved it. He was writing alot of stuff that you wouldn't get from any other football writer. I stopped reading him while he was on nfl.com because alot of it is the same stuff over and over again. OK, we get it, you should run on 3rd and short. You don't have to give us 10 examples every week.

Anyway, he did get canned from espn.com for some stupid remark on his blog that was blown way out of proportion.

Agree with most here. The first time you read his in-season columns, you think he's brilliant. The fifth time, you think he's a robot.

Why he got canned:

He wrote a blog entry slamming Michael Eisner (chairman of Disney) over "Kill Bill." Somehow he tied his outrage over Miramax (one of Disney's studios) funding the movie to Eisner's Jewish faith, which started an uproar & earned him the ax.

Now his contract with nfl.com is up, and that ##### Eisner is gone (or on his way out--can't remember), so I guess it was OK to bring him back.
