**TNF on Prime - Niners at Rams**(-8.5, 44) 8:15 (1 Viewer)

McVay definitely outthought himself there with that poor play call
Stafford is throwing all over SF, you have Puka and Adams and you run the weak RB

Terrible play call! McVay deserves to lose the game

Go, Kyren Williams! 🙏
Boo this man, BOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Awful. Instead of TD #3, a fumble!
😫💥🔫
Dude put up 31 in my home league… against me.
In my league, he put up 23 points for me. Could have been just south of 30.... could have-should have.

Just watched the replay. He took his left hand off the ball — like he didn't want the knee to go down so he was trying to keep himself up with his left hand... and the ball was instantly vulnerable. 😵‍💫

Kyren Willians

83 speed score (9th percentile)
112 burst score (20th percentile)
11.40 agility score (50th percentile)

Get a different guy who gets the playbook and doesn't fumble
Weird take here. He fumbled, yes, but everyone does sometimes. I thought he looked really good out there. And he scored 30 pts for me tonight :)

Kyren scored 33 points for me, so I can't be that upset.

There's absolutely nothing weird about my take and I hope you all enjoy the fantasy points while the getting is good. Peace and good luck!

YOU'RE GONNA EAT THAT TAKE AND LIKE IT.

Great win, but the 49ers have a problem keeping QB's healthy lol. And thank Jed for bringing Saleh back.

McVay just said he blew the play call and Fitzgerald just said you have to get the ball in Puka’s hands.

McVay said he’s “sick” that he put his guys in that position and that they definitely need to “clean things up.”

The broadcast was talking about Kyren Williams fumbling way too often.

Kyren Williams had two runs over twenty yards last year in 316 attempts. Pathetic. I’m pretty sure when I had PFF last year he faced among the lightest boxes of any RB in the NFL.

His Wonderlic score and IQ or spatial/visual processing acuity must be off the charts. Because there ain’t much else.

Jones sprained his PCL in the preseason.
The 49ers are 4-1 with Jones winning 3 games with only 1 INT and 1 fumble lost. If it weren't for Nick Bosa, the 49ers could be 3-2 in each of Purdy's starts.

I've always pointed out that Purdy is a tiny QB compared to even GEQBUS or a Jones. Jones threw for 2 TDs for 342 yards without Pearsall, Jennings, Kittle, and so forth, while on a bad knee.

I'm giving Jones his flowers.

That was a he’ll of a gutsy performance by Jones last night.

Love it or hate it (I know, most hate it), but that last play is precisely why the Tush Push makes the Eagles so formidable. That would have been a gimmee first down for them.

sorry to interject tush push dialogue into another thread

Williams' receiving game saved his bottom line, for sure. As an RB alone, I would have been looking at a paltry Fantasy score.

Refs screwed up last night on that goaline fumble.
Illegal Use of Hands or Unnecessary Roughness should have been called. Whether it was intentional or not.
The defender punched Kyren in the head first.
  • Illegal Use of Hands:
A defensive player is prohibited from thrusting their hands forward to make forcible contact with an opponent's head or face area.
  • Unnecessary Roughness:
This broad category covers violent or gratuitous contact that is not part of a legal play. A punch to the head falls under this category.

Good no call

I don't think it was an intentional punch to the head as much as it was a desperation swipe at the ball (and his hand/arm glance off Williams' helmet first). That said, it certainly could have contributed to Williams losing control of the football.

It's one of those tough calls that everyone obviously isn't going to agree on. Rams fans are going to want it called, and are upset that it wasn't. Had it been, though, I think there would be even more of an outcry (that it wasn't a "punch" but rather incidental contact). Which begs the question... Does that matter? When it comes to refs protecting QB's, it doesn't seem to matter (we see roughing the passer calls all the time where defenders hit the QB in the head, not necessarily intentionally, but it's still called). But what about non-QB's? Happens far less often, so I don't know the answer.

I had the Rams in one of my survivor pools. Was pulling for them to score there, obviously. I think it was a close call that could have been called either way. That said, I have no problem with it being a no-call, all things considered. Luckily, I only took them in one survivor contest (have the Lions and Colts in the others).

And the 49ers successfully converted a 4th down tuchas puchas with a gimpy Mac Jones.

Incidental contact while going for the ball. That wasn’t a penalty. I watched that play 4x. It was clean. This is nonsense.

Also, he wasn’t “thrusting hands forwards” he was swiping down. Not remotely an illegal hands to the face.

And it wasn’t a “punch to the head” either. He was clearly swiping down at the ball. The head obviously wasn’t the target.

Good non-call.

I think this is more towards the middle than you are claiming.
I can see the call go both ways.
The punch was not "clean". We don't see incidental punches occur often in the NFL why? Because frequent incidental punches in the face is NOT FOOTBALL!
We have seen penalties plenty for "hands to the face". Is it incidental? Of course. BUT IT STILL GETS CALLED.

Read the rules you posted again. Per the words in the rules, it was not a penalty.

Q: did the defender “thrust his hands forward”?
A: No, he did not. He swiped down.

Cut & dry. No middle, clearly, obviously not against the rules. There was no penalty, which is why there was no flag. Trying to redefine what the defender did to suit the rule is not something refs do.

I can see the argument for "thrust his hands forward". He did swipe down I agree.
Therefore, it then falls under Unnecessary Roughness.

But it doesn’t. He wasn’t being unnecessarily rough. He was going for the ball. It’s a football play. Swiping for the ball, which he clearly did from the result, is legal. If dudes helmet got in the way, too bad. That’s why they wear helmets.

He didn’t punch him in the helmet.

Starting to wonder if this is a schtick.

SF had no business winning this game. They went into LA on a short week, short handed with injuries and stole the win.

Kudos to Shanahan and the 9ers.
Just saw an IG clip of the crowd. I hadn’t realized it was 90% Niners fans.
Yeah it was LIT with Niner fans!! My favorite IG clip from last night:

:gang2: 😆

We just saw another “punch” in the Dal vs NYJ game causing Breece to fumble.
This is why it should be called. Now teams will start doing it.

As if teams haven’t been doing this for decades? This isn’t a new thing. Cmon.

Bro, wtf are you talking about. Did they call a penalty? I’m betting not. Because it’s not a penalty.
