OK,

So a guy goes to make a wiaver wire/ free agent pick-up, but drops the wrong guy by accident.

Immediately he sends an email to you requesting the correction.

Do you go ahead and change the dropped player to who he initially meant to use.

(The problem is the guy just dropped Brandon Jacobs by accident over Brandon Jones. He has Tiki Barber, so I doubt the Jacobs drop was an actual mistake)

How do you proceed?

Why would you NOT fix it? Seriously, if he followed it up with an immediate email stating the problem, I cannot think of 1 good reason to NOT fix this.

If he sent you the email immediately...then fix it. That's our rule. You better have sent an email within a half hour of the move, or it becomes official. We say a half hour because you may not notice your mistake right away. We have a good faith league where mostly everybody is pretty honest.
 
make the correction.... it was immediately after.... we all have made mistakes and it's easy to do by a wrong click here or there....

 
I'm sure you know the answer by now, but I'll chime in anyways. An email within 30 mins is also our rule. You can't for one second think you know what he really meant to do. Make the change.

Next time it might be you.

 
Those names ae so close I had to read it a few times to see it was not the same player...

make the move...

if this is the toughest issue you faced/face this year your lucky ..!!

 
I have both done this for someone as a commisioner and had it done for me in a league where I'm not the commisioner. As long as the email to you is within a few minutes of the drop, fix it.

:confused:That shows me moreso that is was a mistake? He has the handcuff to Tiki barber, and dropped him by accident as opposed to a crappy player with a similar name.

Thanks Guys, I agree with you all. But i wanted to see what other leagues do in thissituation. The obvious thing is to fix it, especially with Jacobs as his Tiki handcuff.

Seems like every year there are leagues that have issues with either trades or rules interpretations etc

So my question is would you pay to have a commish service that can one supply you with a set of rules and then allow them to make all rulings and judgements on issues that arise in your league?

If so what would you consider a reasonable fee?

Commish service only:

$5/yr

$10/yr

$15/yr?

more?

Commish service with rules:

$5 for basic redraft?

$10 or more for keeper and dyansty leagues?

$$ charges in the future for changes/additions to the rules?($1 or $2 or more?)

just curious how people would embrace a service like this

 
Make the correction. Easy decision.

You might want to make a new league rule covering these situations. What happens if next time somebody claims they made a mistake the next afternoon and points to this incident as a reason they should be allowed a re-do. Make a time limit for notification and tell every owner they have a responsibility to double check their transactions for accuracy.

 
Any league that wouldn't fix this mistake in these circumstances would lose me as an owner. You are doing the correct thing by fixing it, obviously.

 
Tough nuts, pay attention to the choices you make. Then immediately put in a bid for the player he dropped.

I am just kidding, fix it, it is the right thing to do.

 
Make the change, forward his email and yours explaining what happened to the league, and that's that.

in the words of John Gruden - zero, Z-E-R-O , zero. You elect commish you can trust and let him make the decisions - possibly wit thhe help of a rules committee of 2 or 4 other owners.
 
You can't "just" fix the mistake. When you do so you have set a precedent and basically created a new rule. If you're going to do that, then do it right and flesh that rule out completely.

If you choose to fix it (and I would), then you should fully qualify under what circumstances the do-over rule is going to be applied. Is there a time limit? Does it have to be within 10 minutes, or is 40, 60, 3 hours, 12 hours, also allowed? How does the owner have to notify you? Consider making him post in the message board as well as contact you directly so it is time-stamped for everyone to see and eliminating one more area that can cause mistrust.

I'd fix it, but you really need to do more so it's clear going forward how this stuff gets handled.

 
I'd correct it, but tell him it's the last time you'll bend. As long as he didn't leave it out there long enough for someone else to snatch him.. it's all good

This is a very wise answer. I try to keep note of all the 'additions' my charter needs during the season, based on any situations or questions that come up. Then during the offseason I make sure to incorporate all the necessary changes to our rules. This helps keep the owners active in the offseason and allows for sufficient time to discuss and implement in a clear and fair manner to all the owners.

Yes.You fix it for him - quick fingers on the keyboard should always be corrected.
