Glazer is reporting on FOX in the off-season Gonzo was diagnosed with Bells Palsy, stroke like symptoms, etc.

Was something made of this in the off-season and I just missed it? This is something that sticks with you for life, if he has stroke symptoms again I would think they shut him down for the season, no?

It's not stroke symptoms and it's not anything he can't play with. It's facial weakness on one side due to the nerve on that side, usually takes 1-2 months to go away and usually does. Shouldn't affect his play at all.

Connecting Bell's Palsy to a stroke is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. As someone who has had Bell's Palsy, I can say that when I woke up with half my face paralyzed, that yes, I thought I had a stroke. But there is no connection between the two and Gonzo's life was not in danger. My God!

Don't know much about Bells Palsy at all, so just going by what Glazer said... I thought it may have been over board. But, I do remember back in the day when I watched WWF, good ole' JR never got over his bells palsy symptoms, or so it appeared. :pickle:

Even if it lingers, it doesn't deter you from day to day life, nor from playing physical sports. Face might look weired, but who knows that could be an advantage. :lmao:

I also had Bells Palsy once. The only way it would inhibit Gonzo's play is if it affects his ability to blink. That can seriously hamper your vision.

Bells Palsy can be caused by many things, including new research that suggests Splenda and Aspartane.

It is supposed to be the result of inflammation of the facial nerve, which produces pressure on the nerve as it exits the skull within its bony canal. Patients with facial palsy for which an underlying cause can be readily found are not generally considered to have Bell's palsy per se.

These underlying problems include tumor, meningitis, stroke, diabetes mellitus, head trauma and inflammatory diseases of the cranial nerves (sarcoidosis, brucellosis, etc.) In these conditions, the neurologic findings are rarely restricted to the facial nerve. Babies can be born with facial palsy, and they exhibit many of the same symptoms as people with Bell's palsy; this is often due to a traumatic birth which causes irrepairable damage to the facial nerve, i.e. acute facial nerve paralysis.
