Tony Robbins (1 Viewer)

My company is open to sending me to see Tony Robbins in West Palm Beach. It's a motivational program, and a friend has told me he's heard really good things about it.

Has anyone hear ever gone to one of his events? What can you tell me - I'm curious if it's worth attending.

I know I'd be psyched if my employer thought that I needed some Tony Robbins motivation.

And by psyched, I mean I'd start looking for a new job.

Is it just me, or does he look a bit like a shorter George Muresan?
It's spelled Gheorghe, but we don't correct people on this type of stuff around here.
:lmao:

To be fair, I wasn't correcting his spelling today, just some poor sentence structure, incorrect wording of a commonly used phrase and using "of" in place of "have" twice. It was pretty bad.

But thanks, because while I looked up his last name, I didn't think to look up the spelling of his first. The more you know...

It depends - are you interested in learning con man techniques?

I just got back from WPB for business.

anytime my employer wants to send me to WPB during December for business and its on them, they can sign me up.

LOL Actually I approached them and asked. A friend's entire firm is heading there, as they'd heard good things. I was able to get my company to buy in, but now I'm having second thoughts.

I see the perception he's a con man - why? I honestly don't know.

While I've never been to an in-person event, I do have a couple of his audio programs and like the guy and relate to a lot of what he says and how he says it.

If you want to know what you're in for, see if he is scheduled to be on QVC anytime soon. Every few months, he randomly pops up there. That would give you an idea what he is all about.

"No matter how motivated you are, you'll never catch a sunset by running east..."

If you're always chasing sunsets you'll never see the sunrise.

Yes, take the trip and don't forget to visit Rachel's. Don't waste your time going to see that Robbins clown though. Just say that you went.

you might be better checking out Creflo Dollar instead. he does't make Robbins kind of money but he's still doing pretty well for himself.

On a more serious note, you'll only get out of one of his seminars what you want. He is a very good speaker, and it's probably worth it just for that (assuming it is him speaking, and not staff). But his message is very much one of self-determination - "You can do anything, if only you take massive action today". And it's very likely true, if you are willing to take massive action on something starting right now, you can make vast changes. People get caught in a rut, or pattern, of living, and sometimes it isn't a good thing. He can provide a jolt for some people to help them get out of the rut.

Where people dislike him, or feel like he is a con-man, is that he is charging money (and in many times, an escalating amount) to tell you that only you can change your life. Well, duh! His programs feed on each other, to the point where people have found they have spent thousands of dollars to listen to him tell them how good their life can be, but never took any action and so now feel that they have wasted (or even been conned out of) that money.

Personally, I think his story and stage presence are pretty amazing, and if you've never seem him speak, it's probably a good time. But remember, he is in the business of getting people to purchase his courses, seminars and books.

:goodposting: he is a great speaker and motivator & a celebrity. Hell, I went to see Obama and I don't love him. This seems like an opportunity & experience you don't want to pass up. Whether you are all in, or sitting back disecting his schtick, I'm sure you will gain something.

Why does it matter if he is? Go and enjoy yourself.

Is learning how to manipulate people to get what you want a bad thing?ETA: it is kind of like the force, it can be used for good or evil.

Need structures. Emotional fitness.

Also, he has saved 1000's of lives by preventing suicide.

And "common sense isn't so common".

This is what I recall from my corporate trip.
